Some bits of useful information.

The book had small amounts of useful information. Overall however, it was not detailed enough to actually be a useful resource for starting your own catering business. It only refers to catering in large quantities specifically receptions. This is not what the majority of caterers are doing. There is such a wide variety of catering opportunities now that was not discussed. I did take a few notes away towards the end.

The book is also poorly structured. It jumps around topics and is not well thought out. The use of, "as well" was used entirely too much in the text. The book needs some major proof reading.

Not very helpful.

The best piece of advice in this book was to buy a different book. Save the time and just buy the recipe book "Joy of Cooking." Basically the author wrote the whole thing to tell you that starting a business costs alot of money and takes alot of your time..... oh and don't cook food for resale in your own home.

Great for Novis

This is a good book for those in the infancy stages of putting a draft of a business model, or those wanting to learn the concept of catering. Well put together, and highlights many key points. But again, this would only be relevant to a beginner.

this book basically tells you about the things that are gonna happen in a catering business but doesn't tell you specifics. examples: "you're going to need a stove". "a gas stove". "you might need a van to transport goods.
