Publisher's summary

A REESE'S BOOK CLUB PICK
"Fascinating...witty...self-deprecating...We meet Cassandra on the worst day of her life. She's getting fired, her boyfriend dumps her, and her roommates hate her. On that same day, she discovers she has the power to go back in time. You'd think you would know how this book is going to end, but it really surprised me. There's a twist at the end that I did not see coming!" —Reese Witherspoon (Reese’s Book Club June ’23 Pick)

If you had the power to change the past…where would you start?
Cassandra Penelope Dankworth is a creature of habit. She likes what she likes (museums, jumpsuits, her boyfriend, Will) and strongly dislikes what she doesn't (mess, change, her boss drinking out of her mug). Her life runs in a pleasing, predictable order…until now.

  • She's just been dumped.
  • She's just been fired.
  • Her local café has run out of banana muffins.

Then, something truly unexpected happens: Cassie discovers she can go back and change the past. One small rewind at a time, Cassie attempts to fix the life she accidentally obliterated, but soon she'll discover she's trying to fix all the wrong things.

“A great read-alike for The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore, and The Boys by Katie Hafner.” Booklist (STARRED)

Charming story with ending I didn’t expect

I thought this story would be similar to some others I read, but the differences were very nice. I didn’t anticipate the ending, but it’s logical. Enjoyed this story very much.

Good story

This is a good story- if you can stick with it. It is all over the place though the narrator does do a great job in emphasizing the emotion the author was trying to portray - it can be a bit tough to follow. But stick with it . The story overall is great and you can’t help but identify with the main character with some of her quirks. I literally laughed out loud at time. I had wished for a different ending but it is what it is.

What an amazing story

It was an eye opener, one of nieces is in the spectrum and it’s been so beautiful to understand now!

A bit frustrating

Helped me understand and appreciate autism in a new way and I am grateful for that. I found Casandra stressful, but I know that was kind of the point. That is how life feels to her. A bit predictable. The use of colors was very interesting. Wonderfully read.

Fun story, did not like the narrator

The narration was too loud and annoying at times, but otherwise a rather light and enjoyable listen.

Wow, such an interesting story!

I had no idea what this was about when I purchased and listened. It definitely seems about one thing for many chapters, then it begins to unravel into something else. Then it takes several other themes on in an interesting way that keeps you involved in the story line until the very end!
I really enjoyed this story and the themes it touched on!

The genuine, authentic, first-person perspective of an Autistic Individual.

I have never felt so completely seen by a piece of media. This is now my favorite book. I have already bought three copies to give as gifts.

Loved This!

I know a lot of people will say they can’t finish this book because of the “quirky” main character but please finish this book! It is crazy beautiful! The ending will shock you and you might even need some tissues. This book is worth going through. The ending ties this book in a beautiful bow. READ IT!

Glad I stuck it out!

If you can make it past the first half of the book, the main character becomes so much more likable. The ending was beautiful and unexpected.
