Publisher's summary

We were created by an infinitely creative God to reflect his love and character to the world. One way we do that is by continuing his creative work.

In this energizing book, serial entrepreneur and best-selling author Jordan Raynor helps artists, entrepreneurs, writers, and other creatives re-imagine our work as service to God and others, addressing such penetrating questions as:

  • Is my work as a creative really as God-honoring as that of a pastor or missionary?
  • What does it look like to create a name for myself but to glorify God and serve others?
  • How can I use my work to fulfill Jesus' command to create disciples?
  • Will what I make today matter in eternity?

To answer these questions, Raynor shares compelling stories from an eclectic group of more than 40 Christian entrepreneurs, including the founders of Toms Shoes, Charity: Water, Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out Burger, Guinness, HTC, and Sevenly, as well as nontraditional entrepreneurs such as C. S. Lewis, Johann Sebastian Bach, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Raynor's "show"-rather-than-"tell", story-driven style makes you feel as if you are sitting at the feet of some of the godliest and most successful entrepreneurs of all time.

Perfectly poised to reach today's growing creative class, this unique work restores God's position as the first entrepreneur, helping listeners see the eternal value in the work they do today.

AMAZING

I loved the concept of this book. I'm new to christianity and trying to find my way through my career. I know I'm here for more and I'm just working on creating with always holding jesus/God vision for his child.

Loved it!

I loved it! I've always been creative, but I've struggled a lot with insecurity about the value of creating vs. serving people. After reading this fantastic book I now understand that I can be true to myself and use my gifts to glorify God. A super encouraging and affirming read for anyone who's creative and/or entrepreneurial.

God is in our business

This book is the culmination of why I am in business and not in a religious occupation. God’s already all around us, but he wants to be working with us. We can reveal him and glorify him in our business, by the way we use profit (abundance) to bless people, the products we make, our business ethics, etc.

Absolutely beautiful! I’ve read many books in my time, this is definitely one of my favorites. This book applies to everyone, not just entrepreneurs. Highly recommend.

Encouraging

This book was just what I didn’t know I needed. As an entrepreneur life can get bumpy, chaotic and discouraging and it’s easy to lose sight of your true purpose. I will listen to this book at least once a year and use it as a reminder of why we even started this journey.

I LOVED it, with 1 exception.

The author has given me hope in my path as a creative. I love the inspirational stories of innovators and business owners who follow God's path.

My only negative comment about this book is that he got the state wrong for Walt Disneys home town. The ORIGINAL Main Street USA is in Marceline, Missouri. (not Kansas) And if you haven't visited Marceline, you should. Walt Disney's hand written letters to his family are at the Walt Disney Hometown museum located in the restored Santa Fe Depot.
