Looks like legitimate information.

Author/narrator Thornton gives good and, what at this point, looks like factual information on how to get started as an audiobook narrator. Upon finishing his audiobook, I went to the ACX site but have not delved into it thoroughly as yet. Legitimate information aside, Thornton's inclusion of motivational quotes at the beginning of each chapter was a bit tedious. I think the "don't be afraid, get started now" message could have been relayed more concisely at the beginning in a short Chapter 1. Lastly, while I appreciate Thornton's work here, I found the over pronunciation and numerous grammar errors bothersome especially since he has a chapter emphasizing the need for quality and professional sounding narration in one's own audiobook recordings.

Lots to think about

This book is very informative, and provides clear information about starting narration of audio books. It is easy to understand thanks to Charles Thornton’s attention to detail, as well as use of a clear method of speech. And does not use a copy and past method to provide information. If you are honestly considering narrating audio books, then I would recommend this book. If you are not serious about narrating audio books, or at least learning to narrate then I would simple suggest looking for another book.

I find some narrators to be irritating and quite grating, but Charles did an excellent job in engaging the listener and keeping my concentration.

Absolutely, and I have listened to it several times since.

An awesome book. I had spent a lot of time trying to find some sort of passive income stream and with the explosion of audiobooks lately, it became apparent that narrating and producing books was the key. I assumed it would be difficult and need a lot of equipment but this audiobook taught me I was wrong. I quickly learned easy to follow steps and within a matter of weeks was making money from this, which is growing every day. Awesome book!

Helpful, but falls short

This book contains a wealth of very helpful information for people looking to get started in the audiobook industry. However, the recording quality is poor and the tone reads like a "get rich quick" scheme, despite the author's assertions to the contrary.

Listen to other, lengthier audios first!

It may be possible to get a booking/job to narrate this way, but most authors won’t go for this quality of audio. Plus voice over/narration/acting is not something everyone can do. Please have your voice evaluated by professional VO coach first. Only my opinion.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend. as it has wonderful contend about the explosion of audio books. and how to get into the field at low cost. But with a warning about the audio quality, as an academically trained audio tech my friends expect me to advice them on things of that nature.

Inspirational!

Pleasantly surprised at this little gem of a book! I was curious about this topic but Charles Thorton inspires his readers making us actually FEEL like we could become audiobook narrators and maybe even authors of books. Incredible!
