Publisher's summary

In 2013, Johnny B. Truant and Sean Platt published 1.5 million words and made their full-time livings as indie authors. In Write. Publish. Repeat., they tell you how exactly how they did it: How they created over 15 independent franchises across 50+ published works, how they turned their art into a logical, sustainable business, and how any independent author can do the same to build a sustainable, profitable career with their writing. Write. Publish. Repeat. explains the current self-publishing landscape and covers the truths and myths about what it means to be an indie author now and in the foreseeable future. It explains how to create books your readers will love and will want to return to again and again. Write. Publish. Repeat. details expert methods for building story worlds, characters, and plots, understanding your market (right down to your ideal reader), using the best tools possible to capture your draft, and explains proven best practices for editing. The audiobook also discusses covers, titles, formatting, pricing, and publishing to multiple platforms, plus a bit on getting your books into print (and why that might not be a good idea!). But most importantly, Write. Publish. Repeat. details the psychology-driven marketing plan that Sean and Johnny built to shape their stories into "products" that readers couldn't help but be drawn into - thus almost automatically generating sales - and explores ways that smart, business-minded writers can do the same to future-proof their careers. This audiobook is not a formula with an easy path to follow. It is a guidebook that will help you build a successful indie publishing career, no matter what type of writer you are...so long as you're the type who's willing to do the work.

Still amazing in 2023!

Perfect for anyone who feels they CAN write, but struggles to find the ambition or personal path to follow that will lead them to take enough of the right-enough step to turn that talent into something.

The One Book All Self Published Authors Must Read!

Would you listen to Write. Publish. Repeat. again? Why?

Yes. This book is the needed third book all writer must read. I put it up there with "On Writing" and "The Elements of Style" as absolute must reads.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the whole book but my favorite bits were when Dave interjected his thoughts.

What about Simon Whistler’s performance did you like?

It was amazing! I would listen to this man read the stock ticker to me.

What did you learn from Write. Publish. Repeat. that you would use in your daily life?

I've been a fan of the Self Publishing Podcast almost since the beginning. It was because of these men that I was able to truly take control of my publishing career and kick it in the balls. This book is the perfect distillation of the tips, tricks, and awesome bits of advice Sean, Johnny, and Dave have been giving us for 2 years.

Extremely helpful book!

This book is full of candid and beneficial insight. If I have any complaint it would be that I could have lived without the profanity. I think that anyone who believes that displaying a "potty-mouth" is the new standard of cool/transparency should not complain we they are called out on it. Obviously not everyone agrees!

Just what I needed.

Perfect book for anyone looking to be an indy writer. I listened to the whole thing in two days. It has tons of great information presented in a very entertaining and engaging way. I think this will become a required handbook for all indy publishers.

I'm Glad I Made This Purchase

I listened to this audiobook over a month. I don't believe I learned anything "new" but it was nice to hear it. It was even better to have it in one place. I expect I'll revisit this audio again and I plan to purchase the print book because I would love to see some of the examples. And I think the narrator was perfect for this project.

This is the New Testament for Ebook creation.

I am an instant fan. I will apply their lessons, like it is a textbook.

The information offered here is invaluable -especially to this wannabe writer - and i don't even like swearing! I will be purchasing the book if it is in print, and some Whiteout..

Presentation was enjoyable as well.

Helpful Book, Lots of Information & Encouragement

Any additional comments?

This book was fantastic. It was written in a somewhat conversational tone, but the information was well organized and very useful. Some of the things I already knew, but was glad to have them reinforced and to be encouraged that I was heading in the right direction. I also learned a lot that I didn't know or hadn't yet discovered that I needed to know.

I loved the narrator, Simon Whistler, too.
