What you won't learn in business school

This book has many excellent stories and wisdom about the virtues of capitalism and how to get ahead in your career. It doesn't offer a lot of quick-fix advice and centers on hard work and expanding your focus. It's leadership principles are centered on enabling others to be successful, and also has a lot of real-world insights on when and how to let employees go. It doesn't offer any "secrets" like many books do, but instead advice that has stood the test of time. Well worth the investment.

WOW!

I’ve been floundering for a few years. I began reading several authors and reached the point in my list they said, “Jack Welch.” I am astounded that I wasted so much time when the wisdom, practical application, clarity, and candor were so readily available.

Narrated by Mayor Quimby

The best part about listening to this book at 3x speed in the Audible app is that it sounds like it is being narrated by Mayor Quimby from The Simpsons.

Overall this is pretty good. There isn't a hugely cohesive flow from one chapter to the next, but Jack Welch's style is open and friendly, so it is easy to shift gears.

The topics range from career advice, to how to manage teams, to business strategy, and work-life balance. Not everything will be applicable to all readers, but it is entertaining to listen to and overall quite well-written and well-narrated.
