Marshall Goldsmith is an engaging, facinating speaker and his personality shows through nicely in this audiobook. His technique of picking one bad habit to change and following up month after month is very effective. I am using his techniques in my life and in my office and am very happy with the results.
I found this to be very useful. As it turns out, I am one of those people who may come across as being arrogant. I think many of us can see ourselves in the 20 bad habits he documents. To get this kind of information in a corporate setting would cost thousands. This book has caused me to think...which is the highest accolade I can give.
This book is most suitable for individuals who are already successful and have issues such as arrogance, not complimenting others and/or over-confidence. Not an inspirational read-like I was hoping it would be.
Considering how accomplished Marshall Goldsmith is, you'd think he would be self aware enough not to be the reader of his own book. This arrogant, abusive tirade is better suited for a military training camp. "The only things that come from Texas are Steers and ....."
This book is full of insights about The soft skills executives need to work on to become leaders that bring the best of their teams.
I found myself guilty of some faults mentioned: not listening with my full attention, trying to win in any matter (even if it didn't matter really ) And "adding too much value" (giving too many suggestions instead of letting The team do their original ideas).
The only issue is after The first half it becomes a bit repetitive And some examples Are a bit shallow.
Things we already know we should be doing but dont. Great book to refocus oneself.
