Publisher's summary

Spanning world civilizations, synthesizing dozens of political, philosophical, and religious texts and thousands of years of violent conflict, The 33 Strategies of War is a comprehensive guide to the subtle social games of everyday life, informed by the most ingenious and effective military principles in war. Structured in Greene's trademark style, The 33 Strategies of War is the I Ching of conflict, the contemporary companion to Sun Tzu's The Art of War.

Abundantly illustrated with examples from history, including the folly and genius of everyone from Napoleon to Margaret Thatcher, Shaka the Zulu to Lord Nelson, Hannibal to Ulysses S. Grant, as well as movie moguls, Samurai swordsmen, and diplomats, each of the 33 chapters outlines a strategy that will help you win life's wars. Learn the offensive strategies that require you to maintain the initiative and negotiate from a position of strength, or the defensive strategies designed to help you respond to dangerous situations and avoid unwinnable wars.

The great warriors of battlefields and drawing rooms alike demonstrate prudence, agility, balance, and calm - and a keen understanding that the rational, resourceful, and intuitive always defeat the panicked, the uncreative, and the stupid. An indispensable guide, The 33 Strategies of War provides all the psychological ammunition you will need to overcome patterns of failure and forever gain the upper hand.

Thank you Mr.Greene-6th time through

Mr. Greene thank you for all of your work, everyone I’ve ever come into contact with, I have relentlessly advertised all of yours and 50s titles to,I am immensely thankful that my father introduced me to the 48 Laws when I was 19 right before my 8 year military career. It was a superb tool while I was in the service, and an even more formidable one now as a civilian. Reading all of your books opened my eyes to a whole brutally realistic and exciting way of viewing and processing life itself. For it I am a simple man,yet a better man. I just humbly want to express my gratitude for your work, and I believe this to be my most reliable medium considering I’m only a blue collar simpleton.

Its like a walk through history

What I like about Greene's work is that he deeply focuses on specific attributes of a subject, in this case strategy, through stories. The books are very long. Thus, it's a pretty big commitment to get through one. however because of the compartmentalization of attributes and stories. it can easily be picked up and put down or one can skip around if they'd like with no negative consequence to the reading experience.

The stories he chooses are great because they're largely obscure. Where they are not obscure, you still probably will learn details of the story you didn't know before.

Better than Art of War

More approachable and useful field guide to all the types of conflict. Terrific history lessons and examples that clearly translate into today’s world. Get this book.

Decent read

I loved the history behind the concepts. The theory was common information but the context of how they’re used throughout history made this book enjoyable

48 Laws of Power Sequel

If you’re a history lover this is a good book for you. Diving into many previous wars and strategies used by its players. Then taking those same strategies and applying them to our own lives. Like any good book there’s a lot of ground covered here so take notes to remember and apply all those nuggets you pick up throughout the book.
