The secret for creating magic in our careers, our organizations, and our lives is simple: outstanding leadership, the kind that inspires employees, delights customers, and achieves extraordinary business results.
No one knows more about this kind of leadership than Lee Cockerell, the man who ran Walt Disney World Resort operations for over a decade. And in Creating Magic, he shares the leadership principles that not only guided his own journey from a poor farm boy in Oklahoma to the head of operations for a multibillion dollar enterprise, but that also soon came to form the cultural bedrock of the world's number one vacation destination. But as Lee demonstrates, great leadership isn't about mastering impossibly complex management theories. We can all become outstanding leaders by following the 10 practical, common sense strategies outlined in this remarkable book. As straightforward as they are profound, these leadership lessons include:
Combining surprising business wisdom with insightful and entertaining stories from Lee's four decades on the front lines of some of the world's best-run companies, Creating Magic shows all of us, from small business owners to managers at every level, how to become better leaders by infusing quality, character, courage, enthusiasm, and integrity into our workplace and into our lives.

I have gorged myself on business books in the last year. This was hands down one of the best. It applies to many areas of life even outside the office. From the newest 'rookie' at a company to the CEO, this has countless rules which can be absorbed and used the moment they are learned. No one argues that Disney has phenomenal customer service. This is a great guide, from an authoritative source on how to relate those practices to your own business and the benefits they will reap.
The most fulfilling leadership audio I have ever listened to. Lee breaks the steps down and gives real examples, constantly giving me something to live up to. I bought this book for leadership roles in community service. Though he talks about CEO's and managers, I found it very easy to apply the basic principles to every day life in my small town. The reader is authentic and his voice soothing and inspiring. I will listen to this time and time again.
Absolutely! For anyone that is a fan of Disney, Lee Cockerell's book Creating Magic is excellent! As the title explains, he does have common sense strategies however common sense is not so common nowadays. His points really do encompass what Disney is all about, and more companies would be better off following his strategies.
I really liked that the author was also the narrator for this book. It added a personal touch.
This book was so inspirational and a great learning experience. It taught me a lot about leadership and how to drive performance.

Lee, the author is a great role model for anyone in management or leadership role.

Yes. Listened one straight through, then chapter by chapter to really understand all strategies and action steps.
One of the best investments you can make for your development.
This book was read by the author. The stories from his career really made the book enjoyable.
I am not in a leadership postition at work, ie, I don't have anyone who reports to me. I was very inspired by the concepts presented. I plan to purchase a print copy to make notes and refer to when implementing the concepts with my volunteer organization.
Top 5 , an easy listen and great ideas come to implement into your industry.
Creating Magic in your own industry
Lee is a great motivational speaker. His book is an easy read/listen. Well worth the money and time. The small investment in time and money in this book will pay big dividends in your life!
Former teacher and counselor
Something that resonated with me was the author describing his interactions as a young & less experienced manager with his employees and several occasions in which the employees retaliated against him. His wife made a suggestion "maybe you need to change a little something"<br/
The author wrote a letter of commendation to an employee and sometime later happened to be in the employee's home for a dinner or gathering and he noticed the letter had been framed and place prominently on the wall - demonstrating the positive benefits of praise and how employees respond to recognition
The audio version is narrated by the author Lee Cockerell.
Even though Lee ran a huge organization he was able to be a progressive leader, and was able to put these ideas into simple principles that I have been able to use many times. He ran the Disney World complex, and it was interesting to hear a little more about the great service Disney provides, but the book is applicable to any business.
Lee is a public speaker and does a fantastic job reading the book.
You don't have to listen to the book in one sitting.
The book starts with a short autobiography, which I though was a little slower than the rest of the book, but it helps to understand how Lee got to where he is today.
