Coaching is a way of managing, a way of treating people, a way of thinking, a way of being. Coaching has matured into an invaluable profession fit for our times and this fourth edition of the most widely read coaching book takes it to the next frontier.
Good coaching is a skill that requires a depth of understanding and plenty of practice if it is to deliver its astonishing potential. This extensively revised and expanded new audio edition of Coaching for Performance clearly explains the principles of coaching and illustrates them with examples of high performance from business and sport. It continues to follow the GROW sequence (Goals, Reality, Options, Will) and clarifies the process and practice of coaching by describing what coaching really is, what it can be used for, when and how much it can be used, and who can use it well.

"A must hear for any coach aspiring to do advanced work with their clients. Bringing together the simplicity of the coaching process and the larger scope of the coaching profession in an understandable and provocative way." (Laura Whitworth, co-founder of The coaches Training Institute and author of Co-Active Coaching)
The content is fantastic - I began applying concepts immediately. Unfortunately, this narrator has ruined several books in my collection with his boring delivery and smug enunciation.
Very monotonous and painful to listen to. Excellent content, however. I've already begun incorporating techniques into my management. Thank you
Success Coach that Loves to Learn! I personally think audible is a better investment than my Masters Degree. Hope everyone is AWESOME!!! :)
This is an excellent book with quality material presented. I highly reccomend this book for anyone looking to broaden their coaching techniques or reinforce some habits and tatics not recently reviewed.
However the readers voice did not resonate well with me and the way he ends sentences kinds of irritates me and decreases my focus. I will personally buy this book do avoid this setback and try to get the most from the material.
Interesting to have an overview on coaching. The format of the book is more suitable for reading than for listening. There were bullet points, or lists that despite the narrator's talent were difficult to follow.
This audible was so good that I purchased the book to use at work. The new behaviors I'm learning and implementing its making me a better coach. Thanks John
"Great book, narration needs a do over"
This is easily one of the best coaching books on the market - for me its the coaching bible. I like to maximize my time and listen to a lot of audiobooks whilst tending to household chores and when commuting. I have the paper copy but wanted an audiobook for repetitive learning benefits whilst mobile but I found this audiobook seriously difficult to keep up with due to the narration style - too fast for me to digest. I would even go as far to say I found it exhausting at times. Perhaps it would be okay if when listening to it in a deeply focused manner. If I was rating the book it would get 5. If I was rating the narration, for me, a 1.
Content is almost to rich to be suitable for an audio book and I found it at times hard to listen and drive at the same time.
The book covers the basics of coaching excellently and with concrete examples. It then broadens the exploration into a number of relevant and interesting areas such as the development of a countries conscience, behaviour of millennials as they enter the work force and transpersonal coaching.
A real treasure which I will be listening to many times over.
"A great start"
I enjoyed the first half, which had more practical application but I was left a little dissatisfied with the more ambling and academic second half. The first half makes this a worthwhile read regardless.
It was very informative and easy to follow. The narrator was a little grating for me but managed to power through. Some parts like transpersonal coaching were a bit heavy but a good book overall.
"Essential for Coaching"
This book will give you, not only the foundation, but some real advanced principles of coaching.
I'm beginning my coaching career and it has given me the confidence to know what to do in doing so.
"Brilliant a must"
A must for coaches. John Whitmore is clear concise and gives relevant supporting views and models for his view of coaching as it develops from its past to future form.
"ive goven up on it"
Terrible narration, i did not manage to finish it as it was too boring. the material seems dated and too obvious.
