Yes, Ace McCloud knows how to coach. He covers physical, mental, and interpersonal aspects of the game. He doesn't shy away from detail, as his guide goes into depth into even the most simple topics. It's a great audio book for all.
When McCloud describes why teamwork is more than just motivating your team.
A personal insight and emotion.
How to communicate better in a team and be a leader.
Whether your coaching a child's team, a school team or professional, this book has all the great tips to make you and your team better. I loved how it had some good play ideas for different strategies in it. It helped my team and I am sure it will help your team.
the author wrote a bit about the values a coach must have, but this seemed universal to me. it could apply to parenting, teaching, or just spirituality and well being in general. This audible book did not give me much insight at all about being a coach that stands out and creates stand-out athletes
the thing that disappointed me the most was like a third of the reading was about diet and exercise. though that may be a valuable part of being a great coach, there are plenty of audible books and other resources for my fitness guidance needs.
the author directs you to his other books that focus on fitness, but also dedicates all of a couple chapters on it. it almost seemed like he was getting off on a long tangent due to having passion for fitness.
overall not feeling the value of this book, hardly worth the $5 for a couple hours of listening.

This is a great book for those who want to start learning how to coach an athletic team. I have a brother-in-law who was a coach for his son's little league baseball team for years and I often wondered how he managed it. I'm also a fan of professional sports and wonder how those coaches do so well managing their teams. This book indeed teaches you effective coaching strategies such as effective communication not only with the team, but with each individual member of the team, as well as accepting input from members of your team, which will then give your team overall effective teamwork. I learned a lot about how coaches manage to become great leaders.
I like most that the author uses real life examples, such as Vince Lombardi's coaching skills and how he wound up coaching the Green Bay Packers, as well as coaches for other sports, including Red Aeurbach, who was the first to successfully started getting African Americans into playing basketball.
Another thing I like, is that they suggest being healthy yourself (not just making your team members healthy) and what exercises are best for being a coach in top health condition.
Scout leader who became interested in leadership building skills after Wood Badge.
I would buy this again. This is a good read for anyone to understand some of the dynamics of a person and thier motivation.
This audio is just jam packed with useful tips and strategies for Coaching. I knew some of the information already, but definitely got some great ideas for boosting team morale and becoming a better leader myself! Some great training and health tips as well, and the mental strategies section was my favorite. The affirmations really helped and the anxiety reduction strategies are great, especially for my younger athletes. I would highly recommend this audio to anyone looking to better themselves or whoever they are coaching!
Coaching is the solid foundation behind any successful team and can be defined as a training and development process that involves a supporter and the learner who is the player. Coaching focuses on teaching specific tasks and reaching specific goals. This audio book has talked about all the procedures involved in coaching and is a great guide for anyone wishing to coach. I have learned so much from listening to it that will help me take my basketball team to greater heights. It talks about leadership and coaching where the coach is the leader and every decision he makes is put on display. A coach has quite a number of responsibilities that have been explained thoroughly by ace. He has also listed some essential habits of a leader that include optimism, commitment, focus, supportive, emphasis on clarity among others that are explained. If you are a coach and want to have some helpful tips and strategies, this is the book for you. I highly recommend. Kudos Ace!
Yes, the narration was comprehensive and useful.
No especially memorable moments.
Really great title with some intuitive and comprehensive coaching methods and techniques inside that can really help you push your team further. I would highly recommend this title for anyone looking for ways to improve their coaching techniques.
The three words I would use to describe "Coaching: Coaching Strategies" are:
The book that I would compare "Coaching: Coaching Strategies" to would be leadership. In order to succeed in business, you need to be a great leader. The same thing applies to coaching. You will not have a great team without a coach without the "wisdom and character" of a great coach.
I have always loved the way Joshua Mackey narrates Ace's books. He always makes the words come to life with excitement.
Unfortunately, this was a self-help book, so there was the moving moments.
Ace is a great coach! He has taught me a lot!
"Another awesome book"
Logical, motivational, inspiring, driven... Lots of very useful techniques not just for the sports world.
"Make your team unstoppable"
A good sport coach is leading an athlete to develop him/herself to their maximum potential. It can be seen in this book that the strategies explained can be applied to someone's life in general. Similarly, the ways and methods someone needs to follow in order to become a successful coach are shown. I would surely recommend the book to anyone who aims at becoming a leader and a motivator. This book teaches you the right values to help you. Also, advice on your diet and a healthy lifestyle is offered. Finally, you can learn which proteins, supplements and multivitamins to take along with the right exercises and stretching techniques which you should follow.
"Understand how to be an effective coach"
This is a good guide on how to be respected as a coach and to be a good leader. It helped me to see that to motivate others in achieving their goals I have to be highly motivated and self-disciplined myself. It has some really useful tips on nutrition, exercises, breathing techniques and stretches for coaching people in the sports field. There is a really good section on overcoming negative thinking through positive affirmations which can help in any field. This guide also talks about the importance of good communication and how to understand your team and the way they work so that you can train and motivate them effectively.
I would, because I know people in the lower tiers of management who are also potentially looking into it who it would be useful to, and a relevant item of reference material. I am also working on a Leadership and Management course and found it to be a good memory refresher of the material that I learnt on the course.
Overall there was no particularly distinctive moment, but I did find the audio-book to be overall an engaging bit of literature to listen to.
N/A; there are no characters.
