Publisher's summary

Bullets, bombs, and mayhem. Bob Burke, Volume 5 is now out!

A Chinese spymaster in DC is stealing US Special Ops war plans, a nest of Chinese agents are inside Fort Bragg, a Chinese Navy task force is headed into the South China Sea to create mischief, and they just shot up Bob Burke’s new pickup truck. Trouble’s brewing in Sherwood Forest, and it isn’t a pot of green tea.

Kidnappings, rockets, spies, naval battles on the high seas, military secrets, sniper rifles, and the Geeks! It's the most intricate and exciting Bob Burke action-adventure yet. Enjoy!

Mild-mannered and slight of build, this telecommunications company executive is easily dismissed as the "phone guy". But after four tours running "special operations" missions in Iraq and the rugged mountains of Afghanistan as an Army Ranger and Delta Force commander, he's one of the most lethal killers the US government ever produced.

A young Chinese American captain’s family is under the gun and there’s little the Army or the FBI can do about it. When “The Ghost” gets the call, he and "Ace" Randall don't hesitate. Time to bring out the Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifles, turn The Geeks loose, and call in some Delta pals from Fort Bragg. This time, a possible world war is at stake in the South Pacific and it wouldn't be fair to leave the Merrymen out of the fun, would it?

Looking for a good beach book or something to curl up with in front of the fire, this fast-moving conspiracy thriller is from the author of Burke's War, Burke's Gamble, Burke’s Revenge, Burke’s Samovar, The Undertaker, Amongst My Enemies, Thursday at Noon, Winner Lose All, and Aim True, My Brothers, and my four-volume nonfiction collection of veterans’ stories in Our Vietnam Wars. Together, these books have over 1,000 Kindle five-star reviews. Enjoy!

Action-packed thriller, excellent series addition!

Burke’s Mandarin is without a doubt my favorite of the Bob Burke stories, from the start where it takes the reader/listener back in time on an op with Burke, Ace and the other Delta’s to where it comes into the present day with the foundational espionage element that the story is built around. While the story is fiction, there were several elements that aren’t very far-fetched as far as being reality today. As with the earlier Bob Burke stories there is plenty of action and intrigue, this story also included several characters who added a dimension to the story that leave the reader/listener wondering how many people like this do we encounter in our daily lives. If you are a fan of William F. Brown’s Bob Burke stories you really owe it to yourself to grab a copy and read/listen to this story. This review is based on listening to the audiobook version that was expertly narrated by John B Leen. Mr. Leen did an excellent job of bringing each character to life not to mention providing an excellent pace of delivery.

Excellent

Bob Burke cool, calm and a force to deal with on any mission. Or when they mess with his new pickup as if it was for target practice.
A mission of subterfuge and espionage, filled with tension, and action. Great narration by John B Leen added to the story
Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
