Publisher's summary

Two women haunted by old wounds find unexpected strength in each other in this heartwarming lesbian romance novel.

Emotional wounds aren't always apparent, and those that haunt Marika and Rhiannon are deep and lasting.

On the surface, Marika appears to be a wealthy, successful lawyer, while Rhiannon is a reclusive, maladjusted loner. But Marika, in her own way, is as damaged as the younger Rhiannon. When circumstances throw them together one summer, they begin to reach out, each finding unexpected strengths in the other.

However, even as inner demons are gradually vanquished and old hurts begin to heal, evil in human form reappears. The cruelly enigmatic Cass has used and controlled Marika in the past, and she aims to do so again.

Can Marika find it within herself to break free? Can she save her young friend from Cass' malevolent web? With the support of remarkable friends, the pair fights to break free - of their crippling pasts and the woman who will own them or kill them.

Contains mature themes.

4.4 out of 5 Stars for Me

I recently listened to another Lois Cloarec Hart audiobook recently and loved it. That book was so good, 5 stars 😁. This book was very good, but it was a bit lengthy, and there was a thing or two I would have changed if I were the writer. Still, very good listen from a good narrator. Didn't particularly love the voices for the main characters, but still the listen was enjoyable.

Buckle Up.

Enjoyed the story & the telling. Intriguing plot with twists & surprises. Great listen. Thanks for the distraction. Even stopped listening as if that would make the book last longer. Author + enchanting narrator = 5 Stars

Suspenful and entertaining story, woven with a love story

First few chapters were a little slow , with very little voice variation for the characters, however, by the third chapter, the story picked up, momentum. Character voices became more distinct. Storyline is great and holds your attention.

Hope there's a third audible in this trilogy soon!

Way above average story in this genre. Nice balance and blend of romance, suspense, and character development/depth. Hope there will be more audible stories forthcoming from this author. Pretty good narration. Would be happy if this narrator stays on board for the next story.

So good!

I liked “Coming Home”, but I loved this one! Admittedly there are some themes I had a hard time with as I couldn’t really relate, but not enough to detract from the over all story. This book has a good balance of suspense and intrigue, and romance, humor, love, loss, etc.
This is only my second Lois Cloarec Hart book and I’ll likely read or listen to all of hers. Such a great writer. I love her style.
Anastasia Watley does a good job narrating. I did have a hard time sometimes knowing which MC was speaking, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Accents are amazing!
I would recommend this book.

Another must

The detail and buildup and the suspense all was amazing. I loved Lee’s character and the MC other friends and support system! The MC both resilience and love was great triumph! The narrator is great, just wish she would change her voice for each character to identify them more! But the whole book was worth it. I love this author’s detailed stories!!

A capturing book

I loved this book, the characters were so well created, the tension was exactly how I like it.
It was funny that David the priest was nick named Ichabod, I know hwy he was named like that, but the meaning of the word in Hebrew is “a man with no honor” and he was so honorable.
Narration was wonderful, and that is so important especially in great books, because narration can build up or destroy a book.

Spoiler alert! (Kidding)) How do I tell you- it’s a great book!

Hard to tell you how great this book is without, well, telling you too much! The description focuses a lot on bad actors but there is A Lot more to this story and it really draws you in. The narrator is pleasant and engaging and the writing is insightful and creative. If you love chosen family, crime and mystery novels, adventure, really smart and varied characters and soul-evolving romance, you will love this book! It’s a very enjoyable listen!
