Publisher's summary

Can Campbell and Carter unlock the mystery of the Key House murder?

A body is discovered inside of the smoldering ruins of Key House. The crumbling Cotswold manor has long been empty, but rumor has it that the owner, Gervase Crown, was seen lurking around just before the fire.

Inspector Jess Campbell and Superintendent Ian Carter pin Gervase as a prime suspect, but was he the murderer, or the target? It seems that his sudden reappearance has stirred up animosity long thought forgotten.

Great narrator

The writing and plot of the book are very good. The cast of characters is interesting . But it’s the narration that raises this book to excellence. Judith Boyd has a soft low voice and she speaks each word clearly. The silvery shift from character to character is flawless and each characterization reflects the personality and demeanor of each of the various members of the cast. Great performance

I feel like this series keeps getting better

The narration of this series is excellent. The stories and mysteries are well done. They move quickly, keep me interested from start to finish and come to a satisfactory ending with a hard-to-guess ending that ties all the loose ends together. I will definitely continue with this series!

Interesting

Overall a solid cozy mystery. I still like the series. I got lost a few times with the characters, but not for long. The reader did a fantastic job.

Wonderful narrator!

I love a cozy mystery with no worries about clean language or descriptive bedroom episodes. Love this narrator!

I like that the endings always give additional glimpses into the lives of the characters

I really enjoy the actor. Her choices match the character portrayal and the writer tells a very good story.

Mediocre execution of a clever plot

She manages to be tolerable but just doesn’t surpass insipid. The characters are never rich and interesting.

Wanted to like it more

Tired quickly of the absolute rudeness of every character outside the police. Couldn't finish.
