Publisher's summary

The second Maisie Dobbs mystery

Jacqueline Winspear’s marvelous debut, Maisie Dobbs, won her fans from around the world and raised her intuitive, intelligent, and resourceful heroine to the ranks of literature’s favorite sleuths. Birds of a Feather, its follow-up, finds psychologist and private investigator Maisie Dobbs on another dangerously intriguing adventure in London “between the wars.”

It is the spring of 1930, and Maisie has been hired to find a runaway heiress. But what seems a simple case at the outset soon becomes increasingly complicated when three of the heiress’s old friends are found dead. Is there a connection between the woman’s mysterious disappearance and the murders? Who would want to kill three seemingly respectable young women? As Maisie investigates, she discovers that the answers lie in the unforgettable agony of the Great War.

Way Past Excellent!

I am now going through the Maisie Dobbs series for the third time. They are so rich. I’m very glad that there are so many in the series, because when I start over it’s still fresh. Finally, I’m very glad to see that Orlagh Cassidy’s credit evolved from “read by” to “performed by”. She is an amazing vocal talent and a great match for Jacqueline Winspears’ extraordinary writing.

Better than the first!

I read a lot of crime novels, and this one was great, because I didn’t figure out where the story was going until the last couple of chapters. Maisie and her costars are wonderful characters with humanity and humor.

Enjoyed this book!

So many things to like about this audio book. First the narrator is perfect for this place and time in history. She is very smooth as she changes characters, dialects and moods to fit the scene.
Then the story has so much rich descriptive illustrations of the clothing, the different environments and how people interacted during this time in history. Then the way the author wove the events and effects of the War on the British people was well done and not over done.

It is Maurice not Morris!!!

Driving me crazy. The first run of these books on Audible (pre-Recorded buying the series), the narration correctly pronounced Maurice Blanche as Maurice; clearly French gentleman with a French accent in the audible version. All of a sudden in the last couple, few books of the series, he was called Morris though still speaking with a French accent. Mystifying.
