Publisher's summary

Babe Walker, center of the universe, is a painstakingly manicured white girl with an expensive smoothie habit, a proclivity for Louboutins, a mysterious mother she's never met, and approximately 50 bajillion Twitter followers. But her "problems" have landed her in shopping rehab - that's what happens when you spend $246,893.50 in one afternoon at Barneys. Now she's decided to write her memoir, revealing the gut-wrenching hurdles she's had to overcome in order to be perfect in every way, every day. Hurdles such as:

  • I hate my horse.
  • Every job I've ever had is the worst job I've ever had.
  • He's not a doctor, a lawyer, or a prince.
  • I'll eat anything, as long as it's gluten-free, dairy-free, low-carb, low-fat, low-calorie, sugar-free, and organic

In an Adderall-induced flash of inspiration, Babe Walker has managed to create one of the most enjoyable, unforgettable memoirs in years.

Not really a memoir

Any additional comments?

Maybe I'm stupid, but when I read the blurb for this book on audible saying "Babe Walker has managed to create one of the most enjoyable, unforgettable memoirs in years." I just believed that it was a memoir (and that it would be enjoyable). It is not. Babe Walker is a completely fabricated, fictional character. I began to suspect such about 2 chapters in, because it's simply not believable.

No matter, I thought, since I enjoy satire. I'll give it a try. I thoroughly enjoyed Leslie Gornstein's book "The A-List Playbook: How to Survive Any Crisis While Remaining Wealthy, Famous, and Most Importantly, Skinny" which is a work of satire along the same lines. It was clever and funny. This book is NOT. I didn't find it funny or enjoyable, and the narration is 6 hours of that completely annoying "vocal fry".

Most annoying satire ever

This is clearly a satire on the life of a spoiled socialite, and there are parts of this that were a little entertaining. More so than not, I found myself wanting this annoying spoiled narrator to just stop. I'm maybe just too old to have enjoyed this book. The one positive is that the audiobook narrator is fantastic! I just wish the story weren't so obnoxious and offensive.

WARNING: THIS IS UTTER FICTION

I like memoirs and this book is listed as a memoir. In fact, it was listed in my recommendations right along with a bunch of other memoirs, so I jumped in. After a while, there were too many elements that felt too fake, so I googled Babe Walker to find out she isn't a real person!?!?!
Audible has misled me with this listing & this recommendation. I trudged through the end of the book, I'll give it that... but I didn't enjoy it. When I read fiction, I like to know right up front that it is fiction. I felt duped.
So I returned to the listing to see if I missed where audible says it is fiction or anything to clue people in - but there is nothing here. :/

so here is your warning - BABE WALKER IS NOT A REAL PERSON. She's a character fabricated by 3 authors and the story is ridiculously over the top & far fetched. If you like rich people drama (I won't deny that sometimes I do), save your credit & buy a people magazine.

Boring.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you like to hear someone whine and complain 6 or some hours, then this book is for you. It's not even funny. It's ridiculous.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tavia Gilbert?

N/A

What character would you cut from White Girl Problems?

Babe Walker!

DNF after joking about rape from personal trainer. Ok brain candy read until that point. Ok as in you wanted Reece's but only had Raisinets to eat.

Completely without substance

This book reads like a bad Anne Hathaway movie. It's mostly just a rich girl complaining and floundering in her indulgences and when you get to the end you're expecting her to learn some grand lesson about how people are more important than things but I guess the plot twist is that she doesn't? ... I would recommend this book to bitchy girls looking for a guide as to how to become more bitchy.

Waste of credit!

I listened twice hoping I would feel different the second time. Waste of time and credit. I didn't find any part of this funny.

Ehhhhh.

Not my cup of tea. It was funny at times, but just totally over the top and crude at others. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
