One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.
Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.
Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

One read thru is probably sufficient, comparing to previous Arnie bios, this one is most up to date, but it only tells the story Arnold wants you to hear, he was always a master of shaping public opinion, and he likes to be in complete control of the message. You will not find any juicy details here that were not previously uncovered elsewhere.
Great to see Arnold chipping in and retelling his story in his own unmistakable voice. Really enjoyed first and last chapter, and Arnold's Lessons Learned.
I liked the chapter where he is talking about his relationship with his kids and their strict upbringing. Shows a warmer, kinder side of Arnold, and his genuine care for his children's future grounding to reality. Rarely does this happen in families of world renown celebrities
Heard the book every day to and from work. A great way to get powerful life lessons downloaded in to the brain. I'm sold on biographies now. Thinking of Ben Franklins next.
The recording is great too. Arnold does the 1st and last chapter. Stephen does the rest, but I liked that. It's much better/easier to listen to.
Goes into tremendous detail about every stage and facet of his life...and it's amazing! The man doesn't get enough credit for the discipline, tenacity and sheer hustle & hard work he had to do to achieve his accomplishments. As well as being inspiring it's also a very information rich book with a lot of takeaways that you can apply to your own life. The full version is a big time investment but well worth it!
I really love this book and the two chapters Arnold narrates are great to listen to. I just wish Arnold read the whole think the guy has an amazing style of speaking and you can tell he writes the same way I feel we may be missing some of the inflection his words would get coming from the man himself. but overall it's a great book and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Do you need an idol and a role model? Arnold isn't perfect and no human is but even in times of weakness he is a man to learn from. Thank you Arnold.
An inspiring read about one of the people in history who will never be forgotten. Of course he made some mistakes in his career but admitting them and talking about it makes him human.
I'm open to any book as long as it is true to itself.
I would NEVER have thought that I would like Arnold Schwarzenegger - but after reading this I absolutely love him. His attitude to life is amazing and this book truly is filled with life lessons and is inspirational. He has had a fascinating life filled with ambition, determination to do his very best, to have no regrets and to succeed in many fields. I am truly shocked by how much I have quoted this book and how much I respect and admire Arnie!
"Honest, and insightful"
Get a really great sense of Arnold's achievements throughout his life and his attitude to success and personal development. The change in narrators is a shame but it's long enough that you get used to them all.
Fantastic biography of a legend who came from very humble beginnings and achieved his dreams!
Wish Arnold read more of this book....never the less a awesome life story to listen to.
Surprised at how much hard work Arnold put into every success, delving into all departments of life. What great privileges this gave him, people he met, the lives he changed, growing and growing as a person, never giving up on what you want in life their is no plan B. And if you fail so what you tried your hardest what's the worst that could happen?
I was a big fan of his since watching terminator as a young kid, following every film of his. As I've grown up I realised he isn't the greatest or deepest actor capable of winning oscars, even looking at him as been too cheesy. But that's Arnold he's action hes comedy he's the best in his field!
I want to go down the bodybuilding route get my body the best I can but without performance enhancing drugs, maybe even enter a competition at some point.
I'm completely inspired, I'm gonna give everything to be a success at what I do, reps, reps, reps!
Great listen absolute LEGEND!!!
"Don't let anyone else tell you who Arny is."
This guy is so much more than the person you know him to be. I can't tell you why without doing him a disservice, so just read or listen to his story for yourself and be amazed at what he accomplished from such simple beginnings and how much positive change he has brought to the world.
"great listen!! "
A great listen!! very open and honest, this book completely changed my view of him.
What a great listen!! Who really knew Arnold until listening to this book?
Inspirational, exciting, amazing.
This book can suggest a blueprint to success. If your willing to work for it!!
My level of respect for this man has rocketed!!
absolutely fantastic bio, he was an inspiration to me when I was a young man..
"What a crazy life, well worth a listen"
Great listen to while away driving hours. Arnold is something of an enigma and that's apparent throughout the book, which makes it enthralling. If you can ignore his sometimes odd phrasing you should thoroughly enjoy this book. He narrates the first few chapters, then a pro takes over, for Arnie to return again at the end. Oddly enough I enjoyed his ad-libbed last few chapters more than any - you get a real sense of the man.
Narration was great and the content was brilliant. Much better than anticipated. I love auto biographies that are full of life lessons.
