One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.
Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.
Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

What an incredible story! I had always known that Arnold must have been really tenacious to become a champion but he movie career and then governorship shows just how amazing he is. This was very entertaining. I'll admit that I spent several hours at the gym listening to this book. Absolutely loved it.
This book is much longer than I had anticipated. What a GREAT look into the way that he thinks and works. While what we see our his successes and maybe some of his failures, this guy is a complete behind the scenes view of what made all of those things possible.
Great story, worth the money. And very enjoyable. Just love it. The reader is impressionable, the story line is condense, and the fact that this is a real life story is truly unbelievable.
Arnold's story is truly remarkable and filled with thorough descriptions helpful to anyone. Through goals and grit, humor and perseverance, and achievement after achievement, one can't be unimpressed by the amazing life that Governor Schwarzenegger has led.
Written very conversationally, like Trump's Tye Art of the Deal, Arnold describes his intentions, motivations, forks in the road, and professional endeavors with great clarity and heart, while incorporating interesting behind the scenes facets from the Kennedy family, celebrity life, bodybuilding and life in government.
Very highly recommended for anyone striving for anything or any fan of Arnold.
Yes, the story was believable through the eyes of the reader.
Imigration is great with the right attitude and drive. One must not be the victim to succeed
One read thru is probably sufficient, comparing to previous Arnie bios, this one is most up to date, but it only tells the story Arnold wants you to hear, he was always a master of shaping public opinion, and he likes to be in complete control of the message. You will not find any juicy details here that were not previously uncovered elsewhere.
Great to see Arnold chipping in and retelling his story in his own unmistakable voice. Really enjoyed first and last chapter, and Arnold's Lessons Learned.
I liked the chapter where he is talking about his relationship with his kids and their strict upbringing. Shows a warmer, kinder side of Arnold, and his genuine care for his children's future grounding to reality. Rarely does this happen in families of world renown celebrities
Heard the book every day to and from work. A great way to get powerful life lessons downloaded in to the brain. I'm sold on biographies now. Thinking of Ben Franklins next.
The recording is great too. Arnold does the 1st and last chapter. Stephen does the rest, but I liked that. It's much better/easier to listen to.
Goes into tremendous detail about every stage and facet of his life...and it's amazing! The man doesn't get enough credit for the discipline, tenacity and sheer hustle & hard work he had to do to achieve his accomplishments. As well as being inspiring it's also a very information rich book with a lot of takeaways that you can apply to your own life. The full version is a big time investment but well worth it!
"Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell & advertise"
This book has inspired me to do more with my life than any self help book I've read!
I'm grateful that Arnold has released his memoirs touching on 3 major parts of his career. I only thought Arnold was a bodybuilder turned actor turned politician but this man is a true Inspiration! A leader, shrude business man with ruthless intelligence. This book isn't just a presentation of his life. It contains some priceless insight into this high achievers mindset and tactics he's used for goal achieving and investing.
"Determination is great."
Hiking through this book is extraordinary. So many great peaks, surprising and inspiring moments. Nevertheless it is a bit sanitised or too aboveboard.
Anyone born in the 80s should read this book. 5/5 rating for great reading voice, and interesting story.
Amazing. Enjoying every minute of it. Truly inspirational story about Arnold. Will leave you hungry for success.
"Struggled To Get Through It..."
I know that a lot of people really enjoyed this book but I really struggled with it. Maybe it's just not a book for me, but it - the book - had great trouble in holding my interest. In the end it was just too long and boring...
Really well written and inspiring. What a legend Arnold is. Skipped lightly over the child to his maid story but who can blame him. Great book. I will listen to this over and over again.
"Brilliant book, totally loved it!!"
Would highly recommend it to anyone...very interesting read and entertaining. Wish I bought the book now
What an amazing journey to listen to. Compelling and inspirational and making me take a good look at myself. Well worth investing time on this audiobook.
"Honest, and insightful"
Get a really great sense of Arnold's achievements throughout his life and his attitude to success and personal development. The change in narrators is a shame but it's long enough that you get used to them all.
Fantastic biography of a legend who came from very humble beginnings and achieved his dreams!
Wish Arnold read more of this book....never the less a awesome life story to listen to.
