One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.
Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.
Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

I would recommend this book to everyone. I thought it would be a fun read hear about his movies and some scandals. But I ended up getting motivated to see what is going on around me not just in my personal life. It makes you notice the big picture.
Great listen. Flows well, interesting, gave me a great respect for Arnold. He is way smarter and savvy than I ever gave him credit for. I always just thought he was just a nice physique, but he has a brilliant business mind as well,
I bought the audio version thinking Arnold would have read most of the book or at least all the chapters that are included in the abridged version. He reads in the very beginning and at the very end. It's a great story but I probably would have just read the book had I known Arnold was barely on the audio version.
I believe this book will be a source of inspiration and wisdom to others as it has been to me.
For anyone looking to push their boundaries or those of their circumstance, Arnold shows it is possible, with strength confidence and a cheeky can do attitude.
The whole book is great! There is so much information about Arnold. But also about life, and what you can do to improve it. I really wish Arnold read the whole thing. But Steven didn't disappoint at all. Thank you Arnold.
"The guy is a hero"
Does what it says on the tin, the story is unbelievable. However to have accomplished so much with so much drive and focus he is really an example to all.
"A great insight into a super bloke!"
Really interesting book, full of back story and insights. It's just a pity he didn't read the entire book.
"Addictive, entertaining with some pearls of wisdom"
It was excellent from start to finish. The only draw back was it would have been good to have Arnold narrate more.
"Great story of a motivated individual"
Well read and honest (?- certainly doesn't hide the steroids, heritage, mistakes). A man who is well positioned to look back on a life of achievement.
Arnold's voice gives it authenticity. Stephen is a great reader, his inflection gives the audio depth.
No- 20+ hours. This is a great motorway listen on multiple long journeys
"Good, but Could be Better"
My knowledge of Mr Schwarzenegger before this book was limited to having seen him in several movies, having heard that he was governor of California and that he started he celebrity as a Austrian bodybuilder. So upon seeing this book I decided to invest a credit and find out more.
I can honestly say that I found the book was interesting, I really got a sense of Mr Schwarzenegger drive, passion and above all his determination to see through what ever he sets his mind on, I actually felt rather inspired by it in places.
It's not the best autobiography i've listened too and I would have much preferred the entire book to have been read by Arnold rather than just the first and final chapter, which I felt was a little bit of a cop out, but despite this its interesting and worth one of my two monthly credits.
"The sample is misleading, but still enjoyable"
Haven't read the print version, so don't know
The story of Arnold's rise to bodybuilding fame was compelling. I hadn't realised that Arnold came from such a poor background.
The first chapter and last are the only ones narrated by Arnie. It's a bit of a con as the sample is all Arnie, then at the start of chapter two a guy who sounds like a maths teacher takes over. He's not great.
Moved, no. I found him quite likeable though.
"Excellent and the added bonus of a motivational speech at the end"
Loved hearing about Arnold's life. Added bonus, Arnold coming back to read the last chapter, a motivational piece.
I was not a fan before hearing his motivational speech on YouTube, now I am definitely a fan. He is a motivation to us all.
Long but very enjoyable audio. An inspiring read from a truly outstanding individual. I never knew he'd achieved so much
"I'll be back as soon as I've finished reading"
Reps, reps, reps
The part where Arnold fell on the antique chair had me in tears, very funny.
I laughed a lot. Growing up with Arnold as a big part of my life, it was great to hear his story.
Can be a bit over detailed at times but very interesting if you like an amazing story.
Great book for anyone who has an interest in Arnold, fascinating and inspiring. Would be great if the man himself narrated the whole book though!
