One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.
Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.
Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

He's not that interesting
If you are going to put everything out on the table, then do that. People are not stupid and can tell when you are lying.
An insight into behind the scenes of a celebrity and his mistakes every step of the way. Carving a place for your self in this world is not easy and will be full of challenges and opportunities. I love reading books and this is by far the best. A must for everyone. You will definitely gain something from it no matter how old or young you are. I can't wait for my dad to hear this book.
Only listened to Audio Book
Arnold didn't hold back
How he cares for people and how driven he is.
Same as the book Title.
I wish he could run for President,
No matter how you feel personally about Arnold, his drive and success are phenomenal. This is in ways more a self-help book than biography.
I felt it was a little dry during his time as Governor, but that's my problem, not the story's.
Phenomenal life story! Truly an enjoyable read. Would highly recommend this amazing life story. Learning about an individual's life, struggles and wins makes you admire them that much more. Thank you Arnold for opening your life for us.
Simply couldn't stop listening. It became an addictive part of my day. I feel like I'm right there through the chapters. Funny, engaging, motivational and also a moment of sadness in the later parts.
Loved it ! What a fascinating person. Great life lessons for ambitious individuals. I'm all fired up after listening to Arnold's story. The last chapter, where he resumes his principles for success, is as good as gold.
The book was awesome. Arnold's achievements are just incredible. It's a really inspirational book and it made me want to go out and just do stuff.
I would have loved to have more of Arnold reading his own book. First and last chapters were not enough. Also, I'm not sure why, but the last chapter that Arnold read was noticing worse in audio quality.
I think people forget how much this man achieved but the way he went about achieving his goals is the real inspiration. I didn't want it to end because every time I listened I found there was something new to take away.
"Boring Narrator, but interesting tale nonetheless."
The introduction is by Arnold himself, but it is badly edited, sounding more like it is cobbled together from a conversation in a pub.
Once the real story starts the narrator doesn't even bother to mask that he is just reading a book. Worth a listen though.
"Arnie at his best"
Yes, I will listen to it again. It wa a pleasure to hear such an inspirational story
It covered all aspects of his life
Yes, didnt want to put it down
"Inspirational amazing story"
Found out so much about a guy I thought I already knew so much about. Yes, he has some faults (who doesn't?) But the stories and motivation within the book make it an amazing read and one worthy of being on anybody's reading list!
"I hope you left enough room for my fist......"
.....because I am going to ram it into your stomach....who is your daddy and what does he do?....I lied.
"Fantastic, hard to turn off!"
From the beginning to the end, the book flowed really well and was an easy and very enjoyable listen. Arnold doesn't shy away from all subjects including his illegitimate child.
Only slight annoyance is that he does tend to pay himself on the back a lot but I guess he is just confident.
Well read as well.
Loved it... great insight into one of the most iconic men of the last 50 years.
"You can't help but be impressed with Arnold"
Fascinating , Insightful , Entertaining
Arnold's Character. A Genuine larger than life personally, who created his whole life story from nothing, very humble origins.
Arnold's of course.
His mothers death - a strong woman who's stubborn reluctance to look after her own heart and take doctors advice was ultimately her own undoing
Arnold's story is told with honesty, and his drive and character to achieve all he sets out to do is a fascinating feature of his personality that you can't fail to be impressed with, as with all the best and most interesting he is far from perfect, and has his own contradictions, loyal but unfaithful, successful but failed his wife and ultimately a failed marriage, in his latter political career he achieved a great deal for the people of California , arguably as governor of California his achievements surpassed that of his film career, a brilliant and inspirational story well told in a true and faithful fashion.
"Worth a listen"
The rags to riches story. As soon as he hit the ground, he set about buying land or property. His goals included finding land or real estate including superstores and an airport. His goal was a million dollars for a movie but this overtaken very quickly.
Arnold and his ambition and rise to fame. He never took no for an answer.
Yes I finished it within a few days.
Good value for 1 credit.
"A man with hidden depths"
Arnie's story is one you really couldn't make up. From the poverty of post war Austria, he trained as a tank driver during National Service, moved to America s Mr Universe, studied business, became a property millionaire and then a movie star. Oh, and then served two terms as the Governor of California. A very intelligent, honest and warm account, written by the man himself.
Maybe the Steve Jobs official biography.
No, but this one was excellent. Stephen Lang does most of the work but you feel it's Arnie speaking throughout. A very listenable voice.
Laugh certainly and thoughtful about how scarily focused this guy is, compared with the way I am!
There's a lot more to Arnie than meets the eye. Even allowing for the fact this is a politician telling his own story, there's enough documented evidence in this book that he has a life worth reading about if you like biographies.
