Publisher's summary

One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall is the candid story of one of the world's most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.

Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21. Within 10 years, he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years, he was the world's biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and became a household name around the world.

Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

Must read for those searching for motivation

Simply couldn't stop listening. It became an addictive part of my day. I feel like I'm right there through the chapters. Funny, engaging, motivational and also a moment of sadness in the later parts.
Great read!!!

Exceptional!!

Incredible story
Read wonderfully
Honest and open, as any good memoir should be, an amazing and inspiring life!
But honest about his transgression and accepting of all of his decisions both good and bad. A hundred good decisions for every bad one. We are all human, some more exceptional than others.

A sharp mind behind all the muscle and acting

Arnold is a lot more than meets the eye. Before reading this book, I only knew him for body building and his movies, and what I then thought was him stumble into politics but there is a sharp and strategic mind underneath all that muscle. I started to suspect as much after watching Pumping Iron recently. This biography confirmed.

His father instilled in him mindfulness from his early days by having him journal every event for each day. His father kept made great emphasis on education and I believe this is what sent his down the path for success. Arnold knows is aware of each moment and makes the most of it while many just watch each moment pass us by. This is fundamentally what I believe that allowed him to accomplish so much in life.

The quality of the audiobook was excellent, the parts Arnold read himself were on point. His voice brought real life to the story.

It's a pretty long listen, took me the better part of two weeks to complete but it was worth it.

Well done Governator.

Amazing. Awesome!

The whole book is great! There is so much information about Arnold. But also about life, and what you can do to improve it. I really wish Arnold read the whole thing. But Steven didn't disappoint at all. Thank you Arnold.

Way beyond what I was expecting.

This was recommended to me and I thought it would be interesting. It was that and so much more.

Like most everyone I thought "I know Arnold's story". But when all the details are put into detail it really does seem a bit unbelievable just as the title indicates.

Regardless of your interest in body building, business, acting or politics the life story told in this book is fascinating and inspiring for all.

Respect Due

Would you listen to Total Recall again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to Total Recall again. The author has had an incredibly interesting life. I have a newfound respect for Arnold after reading the book that I didn't have before. Book is an informative read to say the least. A man that earned everything he has ever had. Every step of the way, his life and drive were inspiring, seriously!

What other book might you compare Total Recall to and why?

No comparison

Which character – as performed by Stephen Lang and Arnold Schwarzenegger – was your favorite?

Arnold

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book is long and never ever boring but it's length would make it impossible to listen to in one sitting unless you have nothing but time. I love LONG books!
