A kayak accident during a South American adventure takes one woman to heaven — where she experienced God’s peace, joy, and angels — and back to life again.
In 1999 in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon, devoted wife, and loving mother Dr. Mary Neal drowned in a kayak accident. While cascading down a waterfall, her kayak became pinned at the bottom and she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater for too long, and as a result, died.
To Heaven and Back is Mary’s remarkable story of her life’s spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again. Detailing her feelings and surroundings in heaven, her communication with angels, and her deep sense of sadness when she realized it wasn’t her time, Mary shares the captivating experience of her modern-day miracle.
Mary’s life has been forever changed by her newfound understanding of her purpose on earth, her awareness of God, her closer relationship with Jesus, and her personal spiritual journey suddenly enhanced by a first-hand experience in heaven. To Heaven and Back will reacquaint you with the hope, wonder, and promise of heaven, while enriching you own faith and walk with God.

Interesring book with a good message but too much phrases from the Bible (especially annoying in the audio version where they always point out which edition of the Bible they took it from which os longer than the phrase itself)
Amazing true story that reinforces my belief and strengthens my faith. My heart was touched throughout and I felt both love and joy for the writer and her family. She has given me insights into my own life and struggles. God is real, Heaven is real and Angels are sent by God to help and guide us. Praise our loving Heavenly Father❣❤️
I'm retired....I love to walk, bike and "read" interesting stories.... I love discussing literature...
I'm always interested in the NDE experience and how it compares to other experience. Mary's NDE experience was very unique and interesting.
I would recommend it if they are into Jesus!
Sorry! I wasn't thinking in those terms.
I buy audio books so I can walk and move while "reading". No, I didn't read it all in one "walking"
I love me some audio books!
Her story is intriguing. She delicately speaks about God and what she believes. Speaks from a loving place. The reader's voice is very soothing and comforting. Easy to listen to.
This book was incredibly well written. I even enjoyed the performance by Lowman. I struggle with my faith from time to time, but not on whether I believe in God or not, but more so, whether he has a plan for me or not. This book had me understand that God does have a plan for me & everyone else. I felt that, I not just learned something new, but I also was validated in my other wandering & hopeful thoughts. It's nice to have my faith strengthened.
The perspective of heaven I had not thought of.
Makes me want to study more about heaven
Presents it from a personal perspective that I have not thought of before
This is so creditable and so real. Mary tells her story in such a way that it leaves you jealous . God has truely blessed you. thank you for bring us along with you. I can only say the ad a fellow Christian t you given all what we need. Faith had been something we couldn't touch or feel or prove but now it's different. Ťhank you for giving us something that no one else could give us. Good bleeds you AND THE gift only you could give. thank you Andy
My husband had very similar experiences with dying visiting heaven and returning back to earth to complete his mission here on earth. He experienced the same emotions and feeling in heaven and on earth when he returned as Mary did. Very well written and read. I will listen to this over and over. As well as suggest it to others who are going though a loss of a loved one.
Takes more than one reading to assimilate it all. parts of the narrative I questioned, then the Holy Spirit brought to my mind Scriptures corroborating her experiences. A deep work. Well written with humility.
I've had a near death experience and to hear someone else's take on a near death experience was interesting to me.
Her candid story.
She was very good.
The moment her son said he knew he would die.
It was a totally different experience than mine.
