Stacey Dash didn't have the ideal American childhood. Growing up in the South Bronx, her friends were the hustlers, hookers, and gang members who struggled in the face of futility, who sold drugs instead of living on food stamps, who settled matters with fists, knives, and guns because it seemed their only option, who stood tall against broken dreams. Dash's rough upbringing shaped the rest of her life - her relationships, her politics, even her faith. She has seen how conservative and liberal policies play out in the real world, and her experiences have made her the proud conservative she is today.
That's why Stacey Dash, a Fox News contributor and Hollywood actress best known for starring in the 1995 classic Clueless, is now telling her story. Amid all the heated racial rhetoric and the divisive language that flows from TV, the Internet, self-appointed black spokespeople, and even President Obama, Dash feels compelled to speak out and say something true about race, politics, and America.

Stacey Dash is a strong and intelligent woman who has overcome so much. Meanwhile I disagree with her opinion on Mitt Romney, BET, and Black History Month, I think she should be involved in politics or education. She gives the cold hard facts about the decline of education in America. She or someone like her should become an educator. I am very pleased with this book and listened to it by taking advantage of the amazon audible free trial but it would definitely be worth buying.
very informative . Learned so much c aboutc Ms. Dash. Never could have imagined that her life had been so hard. happy to see that she has persevered.
The truthful facts about the safety and security of conservative values and the conservative way of life were wonderfully weaved into Ms. Dash's biography, which aptly depicts the consequences experienced by many Black females in America due to the inability to discover and accept the truth of how damaging a disgusting disregard for living a God-centered life can be, a truth that is buried in liberalist rhetoric that is accepted and promoted by most mainstream "churches" and continues to destroy the lives of those who listen to it. Thank you.
Not a fan of the author and her vocal performance is just awful. Wanted to hear her POV, and although interesting, it is unrealistic and pretentious. Not impressed at all!
From the heart, truthful and authentic. Stacey gives powerful illustrations of why the standard accepted "truths" about many social ills are completely wrong. The abuse she has received over her opinions really is awful and unjust. I admire her courage. I can't recommend the book enough.
Great story. Just because you are raised in the Hood doesn't mean you are relegated there for life. You are not a victim. She tells her story with shocking frankness and shares the life lessons she has learned along the way. Highly recommended.
If you have an interest in American politics, American culture, or race relations in America, this book is for you. I appreciate the author's ability to use simple common sense as she navigates through life for which she received precious little guidance. As a black woman with her background, she has a powerfully redemptive message for such a time as this. Frankly, I could have done without some of the detail of her relationships and yet perhaps the rawness of the story results in a tremendous impact. An incredibly thought provoking account that resonates with me even though our lives are radically different.
Stacy Dash speaks from the heart and delivers a stunning performance of the real world, and real people's issues.
