Roseanne Barr is a force of nature. Whether taking the sitcom world by storm, challenging accepted social norms, or battling the wild pigs inhabiting her nut farm in Hawaii, she is not to be trifled with. In this audibook, Roseanne unleashes her razor-sharp observations on hypocrisy, hubris, and self-perpetuating institutions of questionable value - as well as menopause, pharmaceuticals, and her grandkids. And she's as controversial, original, and funny as ever.
Raised half-Jewish, half-Mormon, and 100-percent misfit, Roseanne made a deal with Satan early on as the price she paid for stardom. But now she's looking to refinance the loan of her soul - this book represents her final exorcism of fame.
Displaying her brilliance and sharp wit, Roseanne discusses the humor of everyday life with musings on more serious topics, such as class warfare, feminism, the cult of celebrity, and Kabbalah. Bold, brash, and insightful, Roseannearchy shows that she can still skewer any subject under the sun and why The New York Times describes her appeal as the power of a whole planet, pulling everything around it inexorably into its orbit.

.....by all means get "Roseannearchy". It tells a more complete story of who she is, why she made her infamous choices, the price she paid, and why she'd do it again in a heartbeat. If you are a fan of Roseanne, hearing her tell her story is icing on the cake. If you aren't a fan of hers, but you crave strong, fearless women, this audiobook will satisfy your appetite.
I have to say I enjoyed this book immensely. I couldn't stop listening to it all the way to the very end. I laughed at myself and enjoyed hearing all the hard times she went through. It made me feel so not alone. I never really new Roseanne, but now that I do I
wish I could spend an afternoon on the "Nut Farm" talking with her and drinking wine
and enjoying the "Mule" watching the pigs!
This is a great book. I love how Roseanne is so wonderful at taking insanely, important and serious issues and discusses them in a way that really makes it entertaining and informative. Read the book she explains her whole life story and how she came to be the person that she is today. She's great, the books great...buy it. If you like Rosanne, you'll like the book.
Here is what I have to say about this book: I came of age in a middle class, small town Wisconsin family in the 90's and Roseanne was the backdrop I remember so vividly coming through the small silver television off of our kitchen. I recently rewatched a lot of the Roseanne episodes and was so stunned to see what an impact she had on my life as I transitioned into woman hood and left home at the age of 17. Being oblivious to the drama that surrounded her only hearing snippets and vague stories Roseanne was never tarnished to me as a budding lady nor did I give a crap about how she sang the national anthem. She meant a lot to me in those years, and looking on her now I am awed by her strength and her voice. I imagine things were pretty horrible for her in her personal life, as she thoughtfully, beautifully, and sometimes wing-nuttily looks back on the in this book. But I am filled with admiration for her now as I was then. Cutting through the one dimensional media circus that surrounded her, her failed and sad marriages, she reveals her truth, and I am happy to have read it. She truly took one for the team that is womanhood and I am grateful. She above any knows that television doesn't reflect real people, nor does the media reflect the true opinions of people, because they never told the real story, which is this: I loved her, and we all did.
A long commute audio listener
I am a big Roseanne fan, but when she reads her book it is awful. She is a better actress on TV than a narrator. The book was better, but I think that's because I was not listening to her voice, which can become grating to my nerves in this audio book. Sorry Roseanne.
I would give another one of her books a try in the future. She's very interesting.
At the beginning of the book, Roseanne speaks of her childhood. It is a really good listen, because she rarely delves into that subject on television or otherwise. Also, the forward, which is read by her first husband, (Bill?) Pentland really gets into her life right before she got famous.
Everyone associates Roseanne with that loud, screeching voice. However, she's very toned down here and easy to listen to.
I would listen to another book, but do I think she needs to? No. I think she's said what she needs to say.
Definitely made me laugh! And also made me think. Roseanne is honest, smart and wonderful. I wish there were more people in this world with her guts. :)
I grew up watching Roseanne, and I think she is a wonderful, strong woman who did the best she could with what she had. I love her, and I loved every minute of this book.
Thank you, Roseanne, for being wonderful, funny, and an inspiration!
To hear it all in her own voice was just perfect!
The intro to the book narrated by her 1st husband was great! Very insite ful! The first few chapters r not the best they r very politically charged but after that Roseanne really gets into telling her story n it is amazing!!!! I LMFAO!!! I'm listening a 2nd time!!
Fantastic book. Especially since Roseanne herself read it. There were so many things I did not know about Roseanne Barr, and now I have a much better understanding of who she is as a person. Family, Religion, Politics, Sex are all there. I am looking forward to her next book.
"Pearls of wisdom from a modern day philospher"
When Roseanne is letting all the people who've walked through her life have it with both barrels: parents, husbands, kids, network executives, she does it with equal measures of raw honesty and hilarious philosphy. For those of us who were brought up on Roseanne, and the Connor family, this book is a reminder of the comic and caustic genius that is Roseanne Barr. To have the story read to you by the author herself just adds to an unforgetable journey!
