Publisher's summary

Actor, producer, and New York Times best-selling author Rob Lowe offers up a collection of personal stories in an honest and celebratory memoir about men and women, art and commerce, fathers and sons, addiction and recovery, and sex and love.

Actor Rob Lowe is an entertaining raconteur whose best-selling first audiobook, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography, was hailed as "self-deprecatingly funny" (The New York Times) and "thoroughly entertaining" (Time) and earned the author the cover of Vanity Fair.

Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Lowe's life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Among the many adventures Lowe describes in Love Life are what it's like in the trenches as both the star and producer of a flop TV show; how a visit, as a 20-year-old, to Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion led to a surprise in the hot tub; how an actor prepares for a role, as well as the practical, boots-on-the-ground details no drama or film school would ever teach you. You'll delight at the hilarious account of the time a major movie star stole his girlfriend, and of coaching a kid's basketball team dominated by omnipresent helicopter parents. The story of coming to terms with his son's departure to college for the education his father never got will touch anyone with a family.

Building on Stories I Only Tell My Friends, Love Life is the literary equivalent of returning to a favorite restaurant to savor a completely different, delicious new dish. If you love life, you'll love this audiobook.

Loved it!

Although I have the hard copies I am so glad I listened to both of Rob Lowe's books on Audible! His telling it himself gives that added dimension of actually reliving these moments with him. Exceptional storytelling!

Smart

I wouldn't have called myself a Rob Lowe fan. Good actor, enjoyed many of his TV shows and movies, but I didn't follow his work more than any other actor (not really my thing). But his two books are brilliant. Very well written, entertaining and thoughtful. He's an incredibly bright person and truly insightful.

Now I'm a big fan.

Love this book!

Rob Lowe can add great storyteller to his cap as well... Great book, he keeps it real and also keeps you interested. I love how in some parts you can actually hear him chuckling as he tells his story. Many times people tend to forget that celebrities are real people and have struggles like the rest of us...

Warning to all parents of kids leaving home for college

This book was surprisingly poignant and emotional ... I found myself crying in the most inopportune times (in traffic... on a plane... running), as the underlying love letter to Lowe's son permeates these slivers of stories of a life fully lived. So be wary, parents of kids heading to college. This is a joyful and painful reflection on this hard and lovely journey as parents of children to parents of adults.

Some Love for Love Life

I enjoyed the anecdotal gems, the candid wisdom, the raw, painful truth, love for his family and friends, and hilarity that is shared by Rob Lowe in this book. His narration was obviously the most apropos for the audio version and I believe it did justice to his stories. His ability to mimic other’s voices should not go unnoticed! We should all be grateful to his wife Sheryl for grounding and complementing him so well in life. Loved the original composed music by John Owen as well! I would recommend this book and the life lessons it contains to all ages.

Brilliant

Rob hooks you in from the 1st sentence and you are held hostage. I am not surprised he is a man of deep emotions. He's Soda Pop for goodness sake 😉
