Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD, Live & Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking 54-date Arena tour.
But how did he get there? Michael reveals all and gives a hilarious performance in this audio edition of his remarkably honest autobiography. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex, his fish-out-of-water move from public to state school, and his astonishing journey from selling just one ticket at the Edinburgh Festival to selling half a million tickets on his last tour - all are revealed. Michael’s story is riveting, poignant, romantic, and above all, very, very funny.

Well .... Michael McIntyre of course.
A must buy. Very funny, moving in parts. Highly recommend. Thank you Michael for. Asking me laugh out aloud.
Beeing not from UK, I knew McIntyre from one Top Gear episode. I had a suspicion, that his book would be on a flat side, but since so many reviews were so positive I gave it a chance. Sure, there were a handful of funny episodes, which put a smile on my face, But overall - pretty boring listen.
I would not recommend it. Waste of time and money.
It has a great story line but still manages oi be funny, keeps you laughing for hours would definitely recommend to everyone.
"Laugh at life"
I have already listened several times - i found it was something i could dip and listen. It is a series of stories and make it a joy
The death of his father, and talking about life with his step father. The presentation is like life with highs and lows - and makes the laughter so much better
no - i have caught snippets on TV but never been a particular fan - but his gentle banter, swear-less presentation and apparent love of life makes this a pleasure. Bought it based on other's recommendations
I could but did not have the time - it was not the books fault and for me was ideal - its like a special coffee table book - one you keep near just to listen when you have time.
Buy it if you are a busy person - its one for the car. Look out for sales and offers. It is also something you could give someone who does not like crude humour which sadly impacts on most performances on comedians at the moment - its just nice to have a balance.
"Laugh out loud book"
I loved this and it had me in stitches at time. I couldn't wait to get into my car just to listen to it. This is a must purchase for anyone.
The chapter on his puberty years! It was hilarious
All of it!
His father passing
Just buy it! You won't be disappointed
"I love this audio book really funny"
I would recommend this to anybody who likes Michael Mcintire, this mans stand up is brilliant, and the only reason I got the audio book is because he narrates the biography himself, or memoir as he likes to call it as it sounds better than biography. The bits about his family had me laughing aloud alone in the house with my 9 week old. Love it!!!!
His RICH grandma
He is very funny in his stand up, and he brings the fun of stand up to his biography
Laughing most of the way through the book
"Slow start but middle and end worth the wait."
Yes, Michaels narrations is excellent.
I have only listerned to Miranda's book which was also great.
Just like watching his stand up, very warm and entertaining.
Very warm ending, I have since looked up his first TV performance on you tube.
He is genuine and warm, dont let the posh southren accent put you off.
"Was able to relate to his struggles in life"
Yes.If you like Michael McIntyre on stage then you will love listening to this book. He talks about how he discovers his talent for making us laugh just by talking about everyday struggles. He also describes how he works his way through the showbiz industry.
Obviously Michael himself as it's great to have him reading his own biography. It's funny when he goes on about how he wrote the book for us to read and not for him to have to read it to us
"Great book. If you love Michael, you'll love this."
I would listen to this book over and over again. It's funny, poignant and gripping.
Michael bring humour to every chapter of his life. Including the lower points that might cause others to give up trying.
"it's Michael McIntyre, what else needs saying?"
Was unsure about using audio books but what a place to start - it's like actually having Michael read his book to you - excellent!
Michaels impressions of the characters, such as his grandmother are hilarious
all of it, there wasn't anything to not like
the death of Michaels father was particularly moving as my own father was in hospital as I was listening to this book
I can definitely recommend this experience, it definitely lightens up dull trips to & from work whilst sat in the inevitable traffic jams
