Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD, Live & Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking 54-date Arena tour.
But how did he get there? Michael reveals all and gives a hilarious performance in this audio edition of his remarkably honest autobiography. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex, his fish-out-of-water move from public to state school, and his astonishing journey from selling just one ticket at the Edinburgh Festival to selling half a million tickets on his last tour - all are revealed. Michael’s story is riveting, poignant, romantic, and above all, very, very funny.

"Made us laugh out loud!"
Light hearted and honest look at the life so far of one of our great comedians.
Was just the right balance of the highs and lows, and the lesson of importance of love and family was wonderful to hear.
"A really good listen."
Michael McIntyre read this book really well, and for my first audible book it was a great choice. He really sets the scene well, painting vivid characters and places that leap into your mind's eye as you listen to him.
I enjoyed his honesty about his struggle to make it as a comic, but I think his character portraits were what really made this book for me.
Listening to this book rather than reading it allowed Michael McIntyre to enhance the comic elements of his book and put the emphasis on what he wants the listener to really hear.
I really did thoroughly enjoy this book, and it will definitely be one that I would revisit. I can imagine that it would be a great companion on a long car journey, keeping you amused (and awake!) all the way down the motorway!
"Not as good as you expect it to be"
I chose this reluctantly because I am always rather wary of autobiography's written by thirty year olds. I always suspect that in ten years time the author will wince at what their younger self thought of as their priorities.
Having said that its reasonably humorous and very reminiscent of his stage show work, he does read it at a gallop at times, leaving you to wonder if he had something better to do .
"So so funny"
absolutely non stop laughter, the best one I've read for ages and I couldn't stop listening to it
Brilliant book, great fun to listen to. It was like being at an extended Michael McIntyre stand-up show. Loved it.
"Life & Laughing - Michael McIntyre"
This is only the second Audiobook I have listened to and was very pleasantly surprised.
Michael McIntyre reads the book himself which certainly enhances the overall experience of what is an entertaining and interesting look at the rise and life of the stand up comedian.
There are many colourful characters, who McIntyre brings to life very well, keeping the story moving all the while.
Overall, very humorous and well written - I am sure any fans of McIntyre's routines will enjoy this one.
"A naturally very funny and likeable bloke!"
I recently joined audible and started listening to audio books. I did it because I read mostly autobiographies, have little time to read and I like to get 'under the skin' of the people I'm reading bout. Michael McIntyre proves my point precisely - this book is really funny, but it's made even more so by the communication style and delivery of the man himself telling the story. I read the first chapter in Waterstones in an actual book (wow) before I purchased the audio-book, and the difference is remarkable.
Buy this book - it's great.....but buy it as an audio-book if you can, because it's even better that way:)
"Laugh out loud funny!"
I've always loved Michael McIntyre, and bought this as an audio book for a long haul flight. I think I kept a few people awake around me when I kept laughing out loud! If you like Mr McIntrye, you'll love this, made all the better as he narrates it himself.
"A Must Read / Listen!"
Brilliant book! Michael narrates this so well! Had me laughing from the start! You have to buy this book!!!
I was a bit sceptical about audio books but was very pleasantly surprised. This was a great book to start with but I am converted to audiobooks. Michael McIntyre does not disappoint, he is funny and charming and is not afraid to open up about the high and lows on the road to his success. I loved hearing about his education, his family life, his romance with Kitty and his career, Michael shows that he is like everyone else with the little dramas in his life and yet he overcame some issues to be the great comedian he is today. I hope you do buy this book and enjoy it as much as I did.
