Publisher's Summary

Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD, Live & Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking 54-date Arena tour.

But how did he get there? Michael reveals all and gives a hilarious performance in this audio edition of his remarkably honest autobiography. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex, his fish-out-of-water move from public to state school, and his astonishing journey from selling just one ticket at the Edinburgh Festival to selling half a million tickets on his last tour - all are revealed. Michael’s story is riveting, poignant, romantic, and above all, very, very funny.

    "left me laughing"

obviously you need to appreciate Michael McIntyre as a comedian to enjoy this book but it is much more than a jokey book. He has really crafted the art of self deprecation and has you laughing with him at many of the episodes he narrates.

I listened to it on the beach and annoyed my husband by laughing out loud often.

it is a very easy read - perfect for a flight or the beach - if you do not mind being stared at!

    "Totally engaging"

This book had me laughing throughout. The narration by Michael McIntyre lends authenticity to the stories, and rather than being a "here's my life" monologue, his delivery of the book is almost like having him sit down with you over a drink and tell you about his life. The narration is varied and humorous, and his impersonations of family members lend charm and a feeling of genuine warmth to the tales. A great listen and high recommended.

    "Hilarious and Insightful"

Michael's own narration is spot-on and as funny as his stand-up. Beautifully describes his family, watch out for the mad, Hungarian grandmother, and, although his hard-times were never desperately hard, you're still rooting for him to succeed, and he did plod on for many years waiting for his break. The whole family enjoyed this (the odd-four letter word was not really necessary, Michael, spoiled things for the younger members who are also fans!)

    "Tottally entertaining."

This book is totally entertaining and interesting. Read in a manner that you would think he is there talking to you having a conversation. I found it difficult to put down, and, could and will listen to it again as I am sure with so much content there will be something to hear that I missed the first time. Its also relaxing enabling the reader (Listener) to chill and forget your problems in life.

    "As advertised."

Very enjoyable and entertaining, just like it says on the cover - it is an amusing account of Michael McIntyre's life through his eyes and told in his own individual style which makes him laugh quite as much as the listener. Good fun.

    "Loved it!"

Thank you to Michael McIntyre for reading his book! I did feel guilty during his opening address because I wasn't reading the actual hardcopy but in reality I would recommend this as an audio book. Having the content read by Michael made it and I found myself laughing out loud regularly. Brilliant, inspiring and an eye opener too! If you like Michael McIntyre then you will love his book.
