Publisher's summary

Audie Award Finalist, Humor, 2014

From the unique perspective of David Sedaris comes a new collection of essays taking his listeners on a bizarre and stimulating world tour. From the perils of French dentistry to the eating habits of the Australian kookaburra, from the squat-style toilets of Beijing to the particular wilderness of a North Carolina Costco, we learn about the absurdity and delight of a curious traveler's experiences. Whether railing against the habits of litterers in the English countryside or marveling over a disembodied human arm in a taxidermist's shop, Sedaris takes us on side-splitting adventures that are not to be forgotten.

Great until the fiction!

Where does Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a Sedaris fan, I'm easy to please. All of his nonfiction essays (the first part of the book) were LOL funny, really engaging and entertaining. In the second half of the book he went into fictional essays, which were hit or miss.

Amusing but not hilarious

Any additional comments?

Amused me but didn't provide me with as much funny stuff as Me Talk Pretty One Day and others he has written before. There was more just shaking my head in amazement than laughter.

Sedaris makes me laugh again!

Given the past year, I feared I'd forgotten...then along comes Diabeties with Owls which finds me "hooting" with laughter. Love hearing Sedaris' familiar voice while he skewers all of us...including himself. The Mark Twain of the 21st century.

I may like hearing his books even more than reading them!

He is hysterical as always. I grow to like him more with every book, and particularly love hearing him perform his own work. Can't wait to listen to the next one on my list.
