Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: comedienne, actress, obedient child of immigrant professionals, and now, writer.
With a blend of witty confessions and unscientific observations, Mindy writes about everything from being a timid young chubster afraid of her own bike to living the Hollywood life, dating, friendships, and planning her own funeral - all executed with several conveniently placed stopping points for you to run errands and make phone calls.

"Where have you been all our lives, Mindy?" (Glamour)
Yes! I am listening to it for my second time and it is still as funny as the first time!
Tina Fey maybe? Mindy puts everything her way and she is hilarious doing so!
I laughed so hard I cried! On public transport!
I love Mindy Kaling about a million times more than I did before I read this, and I already loved her a lot.
I love Mindy Kaling and I loved having her tall to me about her life for 4 or so hours
"Fun but a little insubstantial."
Mindy Kaling is a gifted comic with a lot of skill, but I found this book surprisingly flimsy and vapid. I listened to the whole thing in one go, and it felt fun and also like a bit of a waste of time, like watching a dance movie marathon when you have your period. I don't want to slate her, because I do think she's really funny, but this is a bit like listening to a self-centred fifteen year old monologuing.
Aaaand I didn't want to mention it because hey, be who you are and everything, but her voice is really, really grating after a while.
Getting a better writer to rewrite it.
If you want a far better written and narrated book by a female comedian get Girl Walks into a Bar.. by Rachel Dratch.
Very high pitched and nasal delivery. Gets old very quickly.
If I edited out all the parts I thought were rubbish it would be less than an hour long.
I listened to a sample on the audible site before buying and it seemed like it would be ok, a light breezy, funny book. However it soon became incredibly tedious. A chore to listen to, and something that could have been written by a self obsessed sixteen year old rather than a woman in her mid thirties. There are none of the insightful observations or witty comments that you would expect from a comedy writer. Just self indulgent and immature rambling. Disappointing.
