In Every Little Step, Brown will for the first time tell the full story of his life and set the record straight, particularly about his relationship with Whitney Houston.
Bobby Brown has been one of the most compelling American artists of the past 30 years, a magnetic and talented figure who successfully crossed over many musical genres, including R&B and hip-hop as well as the mainstream. In the late 1980s, the former front man of New Edition had a wildly successful solo career - especially with the launch of Don't Be Cruel - garnering multiple hits on the Billboard top 10 list as well as several Grammy, American Music, and Soul Train awards.
But Brown put his career on hold to be with the woman he loved: American music royalty Whitney Houston. The marriage between Brown and Houston was perhaps the most closely watched and talked about marriage of the 1990s - a pairing that mesmerized the public and the gossip industry. Now, for the first time, the world will be able to hear the truth from the mouth of America's "bad boy" himself.
Raw and powerful, Every Little Step is the story of a man who has been on the top of the mountain and in the depths of the valley and who is now finally ready to talk about his career and family life, from the passion and the excess to his creative inspirations and massive musical success.
On the process of writing this book, Bobby says, "Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonizing traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter. But I was surprised by how therapeutic it was to work on this project, to look at the entire arc of my life and to realize that although there has been considerable pain, I have also been incredibly blessed. I hope my fans and other listeners of this book will be entertained by this trip into the crazy, exciting, fascinating world of Bobby Brown. And I hope they will feel that I have been as honest and open with them in these pages as I have tried to be my entire life."

What I Loved the most about this audiobook is that Bobby Brown was the narrator of his story. You can feel his emotions throughout the audio. As for his narration skills - he did struggle at the beginning, but he found his flow. Bobby Brown never claimed to be a scholar so he did the best he could do. I know how important it was to get his story out to the public. Since everyone else has "talked" about him for years - I understand how important it was for him to read his story. So Bravo to you Mr. Brown for stepping out of your comfort zone.
Bobby Brown!! Period!
Bobby Brown! I needed him to narrate his story. His life has been narrated by the public for years - so now let him tell it.
If you agree or disagree - Bobby Brown doesn't owe the public a THING! His life and his mistakes are between him and GOD. We are free to add our two cents, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Bobby Brown is not the best narrator, but he did it his way - like he has lived most of his life. No one else could have narrated this book because they wouldn't have been able to capture the essence of Bobby Brown. If you think you can do a better job at narrating - then narrate your Life Story. There's a lesson in Mr. Brown sharing his story with the public. No matter what LIFE throws at you - KEEP FIGHTING!!
This is a wonderful memoir..It really changed my thoughts on who I thought bobby brown was..it is funny , sad, and heartfelt.. Bobby's not the best narrator.. he struggles with his reading at times ..but it adds charm to the book..This is his life story.. and though he has been criticized for even mentioning Whitney..she was his partner most of his adult life and to not discuss her wouldn't be realistic.. I felt he was very honest about their relationship not mean..and by the end of the book you realize Bobby is just a man with flaws and imperfections like all humans..he is also a loving husband and father who is still a great entertainer who was sort of unfairly living in Whitney's shadow..He deserves a lot of praise for his professional accomplishments.. He has suffered much loss in recent years.. however, when the book was done , I wanted to give him a big hug and wish Jim a happy future..If you like this genre , its worth your time..
This was a good story. It is interesting to see another perspective to a story or family you think you know so well. My only gripe is Bobby's reading. I generally love when an author reads their own book but Bobby reads slower than I would like. I sped up the playback which solved that problem. Overall, I liked it.
I thought Bobby Brown was very candid in this book. It was a tell-all without telling all, but it was very tasteful. I appreciate Bobby Brown a lot more and respect him. It was funny at times, sad and definitely jaw dropping.
Bobby Brown is a horrible reader, but it made the book live hearing it in his voice. Reading the book wouldn't have given this book the same life that hearing him say it in his own voice did.
Great Listen! I strongly recommend it!
Love hearing Bobby's story. I believe his side and embraced the fact regards to his life, things are not always what they seem. I pray Bobby is blessed and healed.
I loved the book. I particularly loved Mr. Brown emphasis and clear dedication to family despite his personal turmoil. The stories from Bobby's children were unexpected, well done, and add credibility. This isn't a Whitney Houston tell all but it does share Bobby's perspective on key events. Kudos to Bobby on this project. Can't wait for the movie!
Bobby B. Brown's life has been a mixed bag of loss, of love, passion, entertainment and reckless abandon. He is candid, talking about life's peaks and valleys. He tells his life story using humor, colorful funny language, he even names names when talking about his experiences. He is direct and honest about his perspective on what happened, his motivations and why he made the decisions he has made. If you are a Bobby Brown fan you will enjoy this book.
Why did the producer would allow Bobby Brown to do the narration? His reading is so halting and staccato it is basically impossible to listen to. I've listened to hundreds of audio books and this narration is easily the worst I have ever heard. Very disappointing. I hope they redo this with a professional narrator. Bobby Brown can sing and dance but not read.
As someone who grew up listening and watching New Edition and Bobby Brown perform, I heard all of the rumors and watched many of the things he spoke about in this book unfold. I certainly changed my perception of Bobby after listening to this book and am glad that he finally shared a bit of his life, with his fan and his critics, in his own words.
