The phenomenal number one best seller about best friends James and Bob. Now a major motion picture starring Luke Treadaway.
Shortlisted for: Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year - Specsavers National Book Awards 2012
When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent tom cat, whom he quickly christened Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. Soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other's troubled pasts. A Street Cat Named Bob is a moving and uplifting story that will touch the heart of anyone who hears it.

"Thought provoking story"
Great narration but story slightly repetitive in places but this gets across the harsh reality of living on the streets. Worth listening to.
A Street Cat Named Bob was an enlightening listen for someone from a sheltered background. The insight gained into James' struggle with weaning himself off illegal drugs, with the extra strength gained from his soulmate, Bob, was illuminating. His story humanises the often 'faceless' homeless people sadly found on our streets.
It was touching to hear how James was willing to spend his last few pounds on veterinary treatment for the cat who had adopted him.
I found that I spent the whole of one day listening to this story whilst walking the dog and doing chores around the house. Highly recommended.
Took me nearly a year to get through and even now I can't actually remember how it ended. It droans on and on. The narrator has a 'feel sorry for me' voice which is terrible. Too long a time is spent describing how the cat throws up and goes to the toilet.
Amazing, nothing else like it!
movie just make it even better!
would recommend to anyone with a heart!
A truly heartwarming story about a special relationship between two lost souls finding eachother and ultimately themselves.
You don't need to be a 'cat person' to connect with this book. It is an open and honest account of the struggles of street vendor and his new found best buddy Bob. Completely had me hooked in true 'Bob' style.
"loved this, presented in a very uplifting way."
a real feel good story and we'll done to James and Bob. won't spoil the story tho. can't wait for another book on Bob and James adventures. narrated brilliantly
Heartwarming story of one mans recovery from drug addiction with the help of a stray cat called Bob
makes you realise there's more to life than people and just how lucky you are to have a roof over your head
"A must have in a collection"
When I was a carer looking after a lovely lady who I had grown to love she started reading this book and told me I must read it! She sadly passed away from lung cancer and I had forgot about this book until the film was announced, well 4 years on and I can happily say that I enjoyed every second. Thank you James and Bob for sharing your story and with it you have brought people together even through death by letting us both into your life story. I cannot wait to go watch the movie. I'm so glad this was put on here.
