The last thing Lisa Edwards needed was a new dog. But when she came across an abandoned litter on Halloween, her heart went out to the runt who walked into walls and couldn't steady his feet. Lisa - healing from past abuse and battling constant pain from a chronic medical condition - saw a bit of herself in little Boo. And when he snuggled, helpless, against her, she knew he was meant to be hers.
The dunce of obedience class with poor eyesight and a clumsy gait, Boo was the least likely of heroes. Yet with his unflappable spirit and boundless love, Boo has changed countless lives through his work as a therapy dog - helping a mute six-year-old boy to speak, coaxing movement from a paralyzed girl and stirring life in a 94-year-old nun with Alzheimer's. But perhaps Boo's greatest miracle is the way he transformed Lisa's life, giving her the greatest gift of all - faith in herself.

I listen to and have recently started to write reviews. I've found the reviews have helped me to select books.
Realizing that dog's, being a best friend, is true. Dog's can and do fulfill and make a life complete. They require love, like all living creatures.
Loving does not require perfection.
Her narration helped the reader to understand that the story being told was sincere and filled with positive experiences.
Knowing that Boo was not perfect in physical ways but perfection isn't what makes the world go round. Finding good comes in all shapes and forms. Choosing Boo filled a space in her heart that needed mending.
The novel was an easy read. It's nice to read something that isn't filled with violence and angry voices. I find the need to change my usual choice of novel, proving that kindness also makes a good read.
A kind women loves her husband and dogs.
A sensible and bittersweet ending.
In general the theme of love and and the desire to work with the dogs as intelligent beings instead of mastering them as beasts.
This could have been a great book with a bit more editing. There were times when it was repetitive and would have been improved by some of the biographical information saved for a second book. I think Lisa Edwards and her husband Laurence are to be greatly admired for being so patient with Boo. I had never heard of cerebellar hypoplasia and it is amazing how well they did by Boo in giving him what he needed. While I knew that therapy dogs were good for people, I was amazed by some of the stories she related about how effective the dogs were.
I recommend this book for people who are recovering from abusive childhoods. I also recommend this book for those who love dogs or helping people with disabilities
“I am the wife to a wonderful man, the mom to two sweet doggie boys. I'm all about the dog stories fiction or non!
I don't know I have not read the print version.
Just loved this little book. A lovely story that only pet lovers will understand. The healing powers of loved animals are totally unknown.
Nope, but I really liked her readin of this book!
There were many!
Touching, Uplifting, Inspiring
Lisa herself. She doesn't gloss over the bad things that happened to her. Her story has ups and downs and you can relate with many things that happen to her because she so openly tells about her life and the impact of Atticus, Dante and Boo.
The times she talks about SnuggaBoo/PokeyBoo and the therapy visits when Boo is able to touch others with his tenderness
It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry!
I really enjoyed this book and I hope Lisa continues to tell of the life she lives with her Husband and her dogs!
I was expecting more entertainment and a whole lot less psychology of service dog. I guess I just did not read deep enough into the description
I enjoyed this book overall. It turned out to be more of a memoir about the various dogs in the author's life and her personal struggles, which I enjoyed; it just wasn't what I had expected by reading the book's description. I wish the story had focused a bit more on Boo and his therapy work, as I would have enjoyed hearing more personal stories of the lives he touches. I also wish some of the story lines had been explored more if they were going to be raised in the first place. For example, the author talks about the conflict with her sister, but I was never really clear as to what led to that issue and what happened in later years so that it could not be repaired. There were also things that left the reader hanging, such as Laurence's hospital stay. He was in dire straights health-wise one minute, and then all of a sudden it was a few weeks later and he was home - there was no transition from one location to the other. There were also some parts that were repetitive that could have been deleted.
The narrator is great. Engaging, different voices for children and just a nice, overall voice.
There are lots of quirky funny stories about the different dogs.
LOVED this book. It's a heartwarming story of an unlikely therapy dog touching, helping and saving so many lives. It shows how every dog comes into our life right when we need them.
It's also a great inside view of the life of a therapy dog and handler and the issues and training they go through, all the various programs they can assist with and some great little anecdotal stories about the people whose lives they help.
It made me laugh, tear up and smile a lot. Very highly recommended.
didn't read the print
I wasn't crazy about the narrator. But that didn't stop me from enjoying the book. Boo is so special and I fell in love with him part way thru the book. Which made the ending WAY too sad but I would still recommend the book. It captiviated me and I loved all the Characters. Especially Boo's siblings....
What an inspiring book!
If you like people this is a great book, if you like dogs this is a great book but if you like people and dogs it's an awesome book!
This book offers great insight into what therapy dogs are all about. I found it especially inspiring because a special-needs dog found his way into the lives of special-needs people.
This book was well read, easily followed and very tempting. A true story of brokenness Conquered.
