Publisher's summary

Two sisters face love, rivalry, and a shocking disappearance amidst the luxury of Palm Springs from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Flowers in the Attic series and Landry series—now popular Lifetime movie events.

Like everyone else in Palm Springs, Gish idolizes her smart, beautiful, kind older sister. Even their parents compare Gish unfavorably to Gloria—threatening to send her to boarding school once the more perfect sister leaves for college.

But Gloria has an unwavering love for Gish, even if that connection belies a weariness with her own accomplishments. Wanting a better life for her overlooked sibling, Gloria teaches Gish how to talk to boys, embrace her femininity, and finally develop a life of her own. And just as life is looking up for Gish, Gloria meets a handsome, mysterious boy. Obsessed with the stranger, Gloria closes off her life to her sister—then disappears without a trace.

A police search yields nothing. Their father’s manic investigation proves fruitless. And their already starstruck mother becomes increasingly lost in daydreams of the celebrities who threw glamorous parties in their historic house decades ago when the town was a Hollywood getaway.

Untethered from the weight of her sister’s presence—but also missing her sister’s love—what will Gish do with this new terrible freedom, with this sense she could become anything?

I'm sickened

I miss the Andrews so much. this book at the end of it I almost threw up while I was bawling I am pissed that we don't get to know exactly what happened that really pisses me off I don't like that at all. it triggered me a lot because of all of the mental illnesses that I see in this family. I mean all of BC Andrews families have mental illness but new age now oh gosh I can't talk about it it makes me so sick I just think it was sadly real. s*** like this happens too much in real life. insane that's all I can say this book was crazy and I wish I hadn't read it

VC Andrews never fails

A little dragged out in the beginning, but turned out to be a very nice story..

Distractingly anachronistic.

The story was fine, but the time inconsistencies are hard to ignore. Like any book in the "V. C. Andrews" anthology it reads like it was written in the 70s or 80s, but then it also has odd references to concepts like cell phones and Ed Sheeran that don't feel like they match. Imagine if you're reading "Flowers In The Attic" and the Dollengangers suddenly start jamming out to Megan Thee Stallion. Yeah, it's like that.

not worth it

I've been reading VC Andrews for long time now and this was a great disappointment to her earlier books. The story dragged on with no real focus and when it hit the climax of they story the boom was over. Character development was okay, nothing exciting. I wouldn't recommend if your a fan of older stuff. Not sure where the ghostwriter is going with her name and books. Hope the next stuff is better.
