Loved it!
The only complaint I have about this book is that it ended! What a lovely, compelling story! The characters were so alive, they leaped off the page and, in a complex situation, the reader/listener was able to sympathize with them all. The end should have been predictable but I was so caught up in the story, if hit me like a punch in the gut. And Dawn French's narration was fantastic-I could listen to her all day! Highly recommend!

Extraordinarily moving
Loved this book, all the ingredients for a very entertaining emotional journey. The characters are real, they are flawed. Overarching is the love of a mother for her child. Brilliant!

A truly lovely book!
What an amazing author is Dawn French! This story is the perfect mix of a heartfelt story, humor and insight. A delightful surprise since this was the first book I’ve read by this author. I’ve adored Dawn French as an actress for many years and was so impressed with this book. Also, her voice is just perfect for an audiobook.

Saw this author on the Graham Norton Show. She was so witty and charming, so decided to read the book she was promoting. Not only is she an excellent narrator, her story was original and totally interesting. Will read more of her books!

A beautiful story
This book really filled my heart. Although Hope and Isaac did an unspeakable thing, the author is so empathetic and insightful about why, the reader really can accept it. The pain of Anna is also empathetically portrayed. This book really breathes and lets all of its characters tell their stories fully, even the odious Julius. I cried at the end, from both the story and because the book was over. I would love to know what happens to all of these characters. Dawn French’s narration is wonderful, too. I loved this book.
