Publisher's summary

An “insidious, suspenseful tale” (J.T. Ellison) with a “shocker of an ending you won’t see coming” (Michele Campbell), Because You're Mine by Rea Frey, the author who “brings to mind Jodi Picoult” (Booklist) and “will appeal to readers of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen” (Sally Hepworth) is an audiobook about how the truth will set you free.

But it’s the lies that keep you safe.

Single mother Lee has the daily routine down to a science: shower in six minutes. Cut food into perfect squares. Never leave her on-the-spectrum son Mason in someone else’s care. She’ll do anything - anything - to keep his carefully constructed world from falling apart. Do anything to keep him safe.

But when her best friend Grace convinces her she needs a small break from motherhood to recharge her batteries, Lee gives in to a weekend trip. Surely a long weekend away from home won’t hurt? Noah, Mason’s handsome, bright, charismatic tutor - the first man in ages Lee’s even noticed - is more than happy to stay with him.

Forty-eight hours later, someone is dead.

But not all is as it seems. Noah may be more than who he claims to be. Grace has a secret - one that will destroy Lee. Lee has secrets of her own that she will do anything to keep hidden. As the dominoes begin to fall and the past comes to light, perhaps it's no mystery someone is gone after all....

Because You're Mine is a breathtaking audiobook of domestic drama and suspense.

Prepare to stay up all night.

Wow!!!!

I rarely write reviews, but this was amazing! It took a little while to get to the true “twists”, but wow! I’ve listened to 5 AWFUL books before this. I highly recommend!

Great story with many twists

The story has many layers after friendship, hardship, and the twists and turns life can take. The ending will keep you thinking about how lies can hurt those they are meant to protect the most.

Tight and suspenseful!

Rea Frey gets the darkness behind suburban ideals, mothering and friendship in her second novel. I related to all of her characters and some of their secrets. A page turner!

a bit of a mess

probably better as a read book. I kept having to go back to listen for missing bits that weren't there. conclusion was abrupt and not satisfying. I really didn't like the adult characters and the children were just posessions to be coveted. perhaps a better ending would be for the children to figure out the scam.

Great book, some lazy writing

Great book and incredible ending, but if I hear “beyond” substituted for “very” one more time... instead of saying very angry or beyond angry please just say furious etc...

Over the top good!!

I was a little bit off in the beginning. A special needs avenue that hits too close to home. I wanted to book I can escape in. But I held strong and modeled through the beginning of it. Frey takes you down a winding road which becomes more intriguing as the story moves along. The ending has a twist that you Can not imagine. Absolutely loved it. Highly suggest it.

Excellent!

Very well written, engaging to listen to, and an amazing plot twist. The description of characters as well as Nashville makes you feel like your with the people in the book. Highly recommend!
