Publisher's summary

At a singles auction where no one was bidding on love, a warmhearted ER nurse finds herself dating a prickly doctor in this enemies-to-lovers lesbian romance.

Ellie Fisher loves most things about being a nurse in the emergency department . . . just not working with Regina Novak, an icy attending physician who acts as if she's God's gift to medicine.

The dislike is completely mutual. Regina thinks Ellie is a starry-eyed romantic with a sentimental attitude that has no place at work.

When Regina gets talked into volunteering at a singles auction, Ellie accidentally bids on her—and ends up winning. Oops!

Since the money raised is for a good cause, they reluctantly decide to go through with the dates.

Thanks to a baking class that turns into a competition and a hot-as-hell road trip snack incident, the ice between them starts to thaw. Is it possible the ER isn't the most unromantic place on earth after all?

Contains mature themes.

Best Lori Prince performance

Regina and Ellie are super cute. Regina is serious and icy, Ellie is sweet and open, and an "accidental" bid sends them into a colliding course. They have fantastic chemistry when they argue and when they share sweet moments. The fact that they are so different but they share a love of medicine or being super competitive really makes them work.

I'm generally not a huge fan of the narrator. She is good, to be fair, but sometimes she over-sells the humor attempts. She was absolutely perfect here. Probably because the story is funny without being too silly and it has plenty of serious moments, where Prince was perfect with her tone.

Highly recommended

Jae Does It Again w/ This Medical Romance

I love love love this book! I was so happy to see it was 13 hours of listening. Was it enough? No. Only because I could have listened to Regina and Ellie’s banter and deep conversations for a lot longer. I was laughing out loud often and then feeling all the feels the rest of the time.
The banter was made even better with this book being narrated by Lori Prince! No one else could have done it justice!
As if all this greatness wasn’t enough, Jae represented more medical staff in this book than I’ve seen in any other medical romance novel. Not only were doctors and nurses mentioned but respiratory therapists, critical care techs, paramedics and cleaning staff. That in itself impressed me! This is absolutely one of my favorites by Jae. And as usual Lori Prince was amazing!
I’m not going to recommend you read but tell you that you need to read it now!

Very good

Jae does it again. A lovely romance. One very nice nurse and a hard headed doctor. What could go wrong when the nurse buds on the doctor? Everything.

Ice Queen melts…slowly!

I haven’t finished this book yet as I’m trying hard to ration my listening to make it last! Light-hearted, funny, sometimes poignant, slow-burn f/f with all the right ingredients, and likeable MCs (Regina soon reveals enough cracks in her icy facade so you can’t help liking her almost from the start) and the kind of dialogue where Lori Prince excels. 5-star feel-good!

Loved it!

Actual adult relationship, with real conversations, honesty, and sensuality. Not another hidden gay or coming out story, not that they aren’t important, it’s just not all we are. Loved it.

Enemies to Lovers For The Win!

I enjoy faux-mances and pairs having to spend time together type stories and this one checked all those boxes and more. When ER nurse Ellie's hormones lead her to bid on a series of dates with prickly Dr Regina Novack, she tries to play it off as it being only for charity. With each date and subsequent encounters with each other, they begin to peel away layers and realize their first impressions were wrong. Helping each other ease back into dating with fake dates will set each of them up for other people, right? Right?!?!?! Listened to the whole book in one day because Jae doesn't miss, and Lori Prince as narrator kept the story light and easy to get lost in.

Very Engaging

Both the writer and the narrator did very well. Nicely written. Great storyline and believable. The characters well portrayed and she stayed on point with each character and their evolution of growth. Nice blend of back story and watching the changes and personalities stay true to themselves while enjoying, with laughter and curiosity, how the book evolved. Thank you Jae author, and Lori Prince narrator
