This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx is all Nikki Sixx. It is a collection of compelling photography and stories that capture the rage, love, optimism, darkness, and determination that shape his work. It chronicles Sixx's experiences - from his early years filled with toxic waste, to his success with Motley Crue, to his death from an OD, and his eventual rebirth through music, photography, and love.
Love story, bad-ass rock tell-all, social commentary, family memoir, This Is Gonna Hurt offers the compelling insights of an artist and a man struggling to survive, connect, and find a happy ending - a search that fuels Sixx's being.

I dont care who you are there is something in this book to inspire everyone to live to their full potential and truly enjoy life. Highly recommend this book! Being read by the author makes it that much better sine he was there and the emotional impact of that makes it real for the listener. Get this book!
I loved this book. it was nothing like I had expected. Nikki did a great job narrating the book and I am going to be buying a physical copy of this book. I finished the audible version in less than a day.
As a Cruehead for the whole ride, this gave me a glimpse of Nikki and more of who he is. He has more respect from me than ever; and that is saying something.
Life for me, personally, is not great at the moment, and yet I felt inspiration for his words. I have not felt that much lately. Well worth the time to listen.
Amazing! Extremely inspiring! I first bought the book and then discovered the Audio narrated by Sixx which made it emotionally amazing hearing his story while looking at his amazing photography in the book. Love all of his work! Truly the most inspiring artist Ive ever come across. It would be absolutely amazing to get the honer of meeting him someday!
Great book into the personal side of a rock star. Nikki shows that he is human like the rest of us and gives a touching message on being kind to everyone.
I loved the book! Nikki Sixx is a brilliant writer and narrator. My only hope is that he understands how many people he has touched with his words and his music.
"Is this guy still high?"
Hated it. I found the book to be about this guys ego. Started ok with the first chapter then went into free fall. To be frank this guy came over as "Mr Know it All" and it was his ego trip. I am not into his music and I would think that if you aren't this book isn't for you.
Having read "The Dirt" and then subsequently each of the members of Motley Crue’s autobiographies I found myself reading “The Heroin Diaries” Nikki’s first book delving into the raw open wound that was his past. I was hooked, I couldn't wait to see what would come out of his mouth next. Open, Honest and sometimes harsh in its reality this book is simply brilliant. Nikki writes with frank open honesty (sometimes to the point of having to pick my jaw up from the floor) and his opinion may not be acceptable to everyone but that's ok.... it is, after all his opinion. I've read and listened to this book more times than I can remember and each time I find something else to re-read or rewind to hear again, often finding myself saying “did he really just say that?!” I loved this book and as with the first one find myself excited, sometimes saddened and yet totally inspired by what's contained in its pages. Punctuated with very clever and darkly beautiful photography its one you really cant put down. Well done Nikki... you did it again. A true great!
