Publisher's summary

"Boy, do I have a lot to learn!" Anyone who's ever picked up a musical instrument of any kind - from the first caveman banging rocks to that little kid at the guitar shop - has thought that. I know I did. I'd been trying for years to break in to the music scene, to show everyone my chops, to make my mark. And I was good. But I wasn't great. I knew that there was something wrong.

"Then the teacher showed up. I didn't ask for him. I didn't think I needed him. And all he said he could teach me was 'nothing'.

"What happened next, you may not believe...I sure didn't...but that didn't stop him."

The Music Lesson is the inspiring story of a young bass player and the lessons he learns about Life, Music, and the Life of Music. Throughout this audiobook is new, original music written by Victor Wooten and a bonus performance by the original supergroup Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

An amazing journey!

This story should be listened to by all musicians. Such great insights. Wish I had heard this a long time ago...or maybe I did.

As entertaining as it was enlightening.

I could have listened to this audiobook in a single sitting. Victor is an inspiration and his story has given me the nudge I needed to let the music back into my head and my heart. Purchasing the physical book on Amazon this weekend!

Great musical concepts, less than stellar performance.

The concepts presented in this book are amazing for any musician wanting to learn deeper concepts in music and musicianship. The voice acting and performances aren't great and Vic Wooten isn't the most charismatic reader either. However, the lack of voice performances doesn't seem to detract from the ideas and overall composition of the book. Worth a read/listen for any musician wanting a better understanding of music and themselves.

Good book. A little goofy.

A great book. He connects allot of parallels between music and nature.

That being said I feel like he took acid and was tripping balls in the woods for like three weeks then wrote this book. Definitely get that vibe.

One of my all time favorites!

My mentor recommended this book back in 2010. It was life changing for me then and it gets even better the second and 3rd time reading/listening to it. So many lessons and layers to process. This work is masterpiece in my mind for sure.
