Publisher's summary

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family.

He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from 40 years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history.

But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

Objective

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was gripping. The story was dark and at times violent, but it had to be by its very nature. I subsequently watched the two films in the trilogy and they were an appropriate continuation on the characters, bringing to light further aspects of the prior story/ies. The films were thought provoking and leave one wondering that if Larsson was halfway through the fourth instalment what he had planned for the characters. Whilst it is necessary to read the books/watch the films in their intended succession, each has an appropriate ending and is not left as a cliff hanger. Not my usual watching/reading genre, but I did get drawn into the need to see justice prevail. Not the type of thing you could say you "enjoyed" but they were certainly well done.

A New Stieg Larsson Fan

Addictive listening. Engrossing, well researched storyline which is entertaining in its presentation. The characters are fascinating and engaging ,the plot has many surprising twists and an insight into Swedish society is a bonus. Definitely the most enjoyable book I have come across this year. I cannot wait to enjoy the rest of the trilogy and all while driving, doing the housework or unwinding after a hard day!

Black thriller brilliantly narrated

I won't add to comments about the novel (which is riveting!) but I would like to compliment the narrator Saul Reichlin. His narration is outstanding. His pronunciation of the names, the individualisation of the characters, the pacing of the narrative, are all brilliantly realised. The tone of his voice is warm and pleasing to listen to.

Good listen

This book was a little hard to get into during the first 2hrs because it spoke of political things I am not too familiar with. However I stuck with it and it all begain to tie in together. This is a really good novel, the narrator is exceptional. I very rarely listen to male narrator, but with this author and this narrator I can't wait to download the second novel in this trilogy. Enjoy, I know I did.

terrific novel, very entertaining

A terrific novel and well narrated. I loved it. I was kept enthralled right up to the last word. It was a fascinating story and I can't wait to go onto the next book in the trilogy. The reader Saul Reichlin reads it superbly. He has a pleasant voice with appropriate expression. Highly recommended.

Excellent Story

What did you love best about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

It was a very different story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lizbeth because she was so secretive and played an excellent character

What about Saul Reichlin’s performance did you like?

He was very good to listen too and spoke clearly and pronounced the words in the book beautifully

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found it very sad that such a young person would have had such a troubled life and how she overcome it

Any additional comments?

Well worth a listen very exciting

A good book

It took me a bit to get into this book, however once I got hooked, there was no stopping! I really enjoyed the suspense and drama. A bit too gruesome at some points for me, but all in all a very good book, well worth the credit!!!
