Exactly what you think, and everything you didn’t. Just good, heartfelt reading/listening. If you like Ellen, just get the book.

like a test run of jokes and setups

this felt like a test or setups and jokes for something in the future that might eventually be funny, but at the time were rough, untested and each one drones on a little too long. By far not Ellen's best work.

Best performance

I loved listening to Ellen narrate her own book because she didn't just read, she performed it and did it very well! Totally recommend :)

Must already be an Ellen fan

If you love Ellen, this book is for you. If your looking for a Memoir on Ellen’s life, this is not it, she has other books for that. While funny at times, this book is just a stream of consciousness.

An endless ramble

Don’t get me wrong. I love Ellen, hence the reason I got the book. But it’s like she is trying to stuff so much into 3+ hours. Just rambling away mindless waffle making me feel dumb as I sit here and I can honestly not remember what this book was about.

The last couple of minutes the music is so loud as she is trying to end this book I literally got up and walked away during the last few seconds. I couldn’t take it anymore. I’d much rather watch her shows but please don’t let her write another book.

I feel so mentally tired right now.....

Great, easy, fun listen!

If you’re looking for more insight into Ellen’s life, this isn’t the book you want. I personally would enjoy that from her but this isn’t it. This is the perfect book if you’re cleaning up around the house or cooking Christmas dinner with your grandmother like I was. Since I was 15 my grandmother and I have really enjoyed Ellen and her ability to make anything funny!! Life is busy, and hard, and sometimes sad and having Ellen making everything light and fun, makes for a great, well put together, book.

The Essence of Ellen

Perfect little book to lighten the mood. Have listened to it several times with long gaps in between and it’s always fresh.

It made me laugh...

I love Ellen and her perspective on life. Some of it was interesting. I did not appreciate the rants were it's just a waste of time to me. Some of it was funny. A good laugh is always worth it. But I feel like if you run out of material, keep it short.
