I love Ellen but...

There was really no substance to the book. It was my first audio book and it was fun but it sure felt like a waste of my one monthly credit. I dont dent that the book is enjoyable but it's just not worth it.

Random Money Grab

don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Ellen! I just think that the content was basically a bunch of filler stuff with no real substance, like it was written somewhat half-heartedly.

Not very good

I was very disappointed in this book. It was 3 hours for 20.00. But I thought, hey it’s Ellen so it will be worth it. It wasn’t. There are some chapters that are good but many that are not. I had to turn it off a couple of times because it was so annoying. The only reason I finished it was because I spent 20.00 on it.

Light, easy listening

Not riveting but enjoyable. I found it funny and that is the whole point after all. It is random thoughts and not a specific theme or story.

Meh

My expectations may have been too high for this, but I was disappointed. Maybe because I think Ellen had great observational stand-up and her show seems great from clips I've seen and the few times I've watched, but in those settings you see her AND hear her and I think that helps her delivery. I have not read or listened to her previous books. I just thought this Audible choice would be funny and it was kind of boring. She wasn't as animated as I thought and I just kept picturing her in a sound booth, annoyed that she had to narrate her own book. Haha. I'm still a fan of hers, but I think I would have liked this book better if I had read it in print.

Laughing out loud

What made the experience of listening to Seriously...I'm Kidding the most enjoyable?

I knew Ellen will be funny, but I did not expect it to be that funny!!!
I was listening to the oudiobook today while taking my morning walk. At some point I was laughing out loud!... Amazing sence of humor. Brilliant way of presenting everyday situations .
Highly recommend it.

Yes! Besides the obvious of being entertain, she mentions things that make you reflect on your everyday life, with a hint of joyful sarcasm. I cannot think of a better way to spend my daily hour commute to work!

What did you like best about this story?

The originality. It's Ellen narrating and it's like if you were in front of her on her show. It's refreshing, it's different and it's so funny!!

Inspiring and Entertaining

I've always enjoyed watching Ellen's show, but this adds an extra layer of insight into who she is. She inspires me, makes me laugh, and makes me wish I had more friends like her.

Completely random but pretty funny

This book seems to have no defined purpose. It jumps from one topic to another, almost like a stand-up routine. There's nothing particularly enlightening or informative about it, but it is entertaining. It's great as an escape, if you don't want to think too much about anything.

Interestingly, I almost feel like it would have been funnier reading it on paper rather than listening to it. Ellen doesn't read it naturally like she would deliver it live, which is odd. I almost feel I would have heard it in my head (while reading) the way she would have delivered it live, and her reading it got in the way of the jokes.
