Publisher's summary

The greatest desire of Alexander Allerton, the earl of Bloxley, is to alleviate the suffering of the poor and less fortunate of England. So when his hackney carriage is involved in an accident that results in the death of one of those he is determined to help, he is devastated. Alexander vows to keep the promise he makes to the injured woman as she takes her final breaths: He will not rest until he finds her young son.

After a crippling accident years ago, Jane Hadford is accustomed to being largely ignored at social events. But being overlooked has allowed her to hone her observational skills - and she quickly perceives that all is not well with the handsome Lord Bloxley. When an unexpected opportunity arises to talk to the earl, he surprises them both by sharing with her his fruitless search for the child. Touched by Lord Bloxley’s story and by his desire to make things right, Jane determines to help him fulfill his promise. What she cannot anticipate, however, is that the quest she has chosen to undertake will bring into her life a small boy who will steal her heart and a gentleman who might well do the same.

Enjoyable

I really like the straight forward characters who are good in general and become better by the end of the story.

I LOVED, LOVED , LOVED THIS BOOK!

When I read the reviews I wasn’t so sure about wanting to spend my credit towards this book. Then I listened to the sample and had to buy an extra credit just so I could listen to it.

When it comes to saving children from abuse I am all in. Jason Tatom did a fantastic job with his narration of the children. He made them come alive. He was one of the first narrators I began listening to and it was like coming home.

I laughed and cried with this beautiful love story.
It is so worth the listening to!

A New Favorite!

Fantastic writing and a wonderful story! It felt refreshingly original. I warmed up to narrator's style after increasing the speed. He was good.

An uncommon Earl

Great book. I really like the way the story evolved. The narrator was great as well. Will check out other books from this author in the future.

Great clean love story

a great book! I was hesistant at first due to what some of the reviews said, and the length of the book, but since I loved the first book so much, and really wanted to continue the series, I decided to use my credit for this book. I'm glad I did. The book was really engaging and so the length didn't feel too long nor did the story drag on. the couple are really well matched and very well written. I didn't understand the title of the book until towards the end, but I think it was very well chosen. I was thoroughly entertained throughout.

it's my first time listening to a male narrator and was for a few minutes a little put off by it, and the style of narration, but it quickly grew on me and I think he did a really good job after all. really recommend the story for fans of clean Regency romance

Excellent Story

Sian does a wonderful job weaving together the lives of each tender characters. It was both moving and inspiring.

Thanks Sian!

Glad I took a chance on this

What a delightful book. The male narrator is great at catching the tone, pace, and humor. It didn’t take me long to get used to his voice and get lost in the story. I actually liked this male narrator’s upbeat tone much better than the somewhat dreary tone of the female narrator on the previous book. It was a refreshing, clean tale. It’s not perfect, but if you can overlook the handful of things a professional editor would have fixed, it’s a fine bit of entertainment.

Lovely story, fast pace, entertaining characters

How glad I am that I didn't listen to negative review(s). I loved this book. The story and the characters pull the reader/listener in almost from the beginning. At times it seems like Jason Tatom is merely telling the story, but he was also good at both female and male voices. This was a thoroughly entertaining book...highly recommend.
