Publisher's summary

I am the daughter of a duke!

Elizabeth Bennet could scarcely credit the news when a letter sent to her father, from relations she did not know existed, informed them that untimely and unfortunate events would result in Mr. Bennet inheriting the dukedom of Everard. In the blink of an eye, the Bennets' lives are transformed - Elizabeth and her four sisters are wealthy, titled, and the talk of the ton.

At Pemberley, Fitzwilliam Darcy is still stinging from Elizabeth Bennet’s rejection of him at Hunsford when he learns the extraordinary news. Elizabeth Bennet - now Lady Elizabeth - has been elevated in an extraordinary fashion and is soon to become the most sought-after lady of the season.

But Darcy’s heart still belongs to her, as much as it ever did, and he sets off for London determined to win her hand. But can he prove to her that he has changed, particularly when her entire life has just altered?

This Pride and Prejudice variation is a novel-length tale using the characters of Jane Austen in a story of the author's imagining.

Awesome!

I really enjoyed this scenario of our favorite characters still living in modern times with new opportunities. Such a fun read with minimal screeching from Mrs. Bennett and Lydia. Loved the story of situations changing turning all previous stations of society turned upside down. So so narration. Wish it was better but maybe in the future a better narration will be available.

Fantastic

This is one of those books that I could not stop listening to until I finished. It was different from most variations in that throughout the majority of the book Darcy and Elizabeth were loving and kind to one another.
Mr. Bennett found out that he had inherited a dukedom and he was now very very wealthy. The girls all had large dowers and they lived in a grand estate. Wickham wanted to charm one, any one, of the Bennett daughters so that he could access their money. Some men of good character and standing admired Elizabeth and the other Bennett daughters and wanted to court them. Some women were furious by the fact hat Elizabeth was now wealthy and Darcy adored her (those people being Caroline Bingley, Lady Katherine, and one of the many women that coveted Darcy/Pemberly). The book was mostly angst free except for an incident late in the book, which was fairly quickly resolved. The almost angst free plot left the listener with the opportunity to enjoy a Darcy/Elizabeth courtship.

Loved it. BUT why have Georgiana die early?

It was a great story until you had Giorgiana die at 32. I mean the rest of the story was a happy ending so why not give her one? She's a sweet girl and it's kind of mars Mr. Darcy's happiness with Elizabeth and the rest of his life. Otherwise, this story gets five stars.

Good story and worth reading if you're a fan.

I thought the story was sweet but kind of typical. If you're a P& P fan, you'll likely enjoy.

1 of my favorites

I love stories like this that make them equal. the love story is still epic even tho she is now above him in standing, it's nice knowing she would still chose him in the end.

Very Good!

I liked this very much! The background of the story was a little different than usual, and made it a wonderful story!
Jane a d Elizabeth's birth Mother was an Earls daughter, and fell in love with Mr. Bennett... she had the 2 girls and died giving birth to a boy. Mr. Bennett began drinking as his way of dealing with the loss of bothering his son and wife! Her parents came and took their daughter and her sons bodies as well as Elizabeth and Jane to Yorkshire to take care of and bury!
The story starts as Elizabeth is at her Grandparents (The Earl & Countless of Richmond) home in London for Christmas, as they are trying to find out where Jane is (she is with the Gardiners) and why she didn't come with Elizabeth, who doesn't want to tell. As time goes by and they get Jane to come the story come out and ...
Read, listen and find out! Its worth your time if you like Pride and Prejudice variations with a different backstory!

Amusing story, odd narration

This was an enjoyable story with several laughs and low angst. I strongly recommend the book.
The narrator does an amazing job with regular narrating of the story, but it appears that she has never heard real people in conversation. The dialog falls flat. Quite a shame because she has a beautiful voice.
