Publisher's summary

Three passengers are dead. Fifty-six are injured. The interior cabin virtually destroyed. But the pilot manages to land the plane...

At a moment when the issue of safety and death in the skies is paramount in the public mind, a lethal mid-air disaster aboard a commercial twinjet airliner bound from Hong Kong to Denver triggers a pressured and frantic investigation.

Airframe is nonstop Crichton: the extraordinary mixture of super suspense and authentic information on a subject of compelling interest that has been a Crichton hallmark since The Andromeda Strain.

A good listen

I enjoyed Airframe! Definitely a good book that's well-written and does a good job at balancing science/drama/action.

Interesting

I enjoyed it though at times technical. Characters' personalities developed well. Plausible story and realistic.

Learning from a novel

I love it when a novel teaches me something about the real world. Airframe is certainly in that category. The narrator is also very good.

Good, but not very plausible

I enjoyed the story, and I liked a lot of the technical detail, but much was quite implausible. No test company or pilot would allow an outside reporter on a functional test flight, nor would a test pilot ever intentionally exceed the design limits of an in-service airplane to duplicate an event thought to have occurred in revenue service.

I think this is is certification stuff--if even that. Pretty contrived in that regard.

Still a fun story. Thanks.

A solid story, but limited drama.

Most of Michael Crichton's books have been turned into films and with good reason... This one probably won't. While it's an interesting story, there's no real drama. It just continues moving forward, telling a story. There are some moments where you wonder about how things will progress, but at no point are you really worried about, or concerned for the characters. Still? If you're a fan of Michael Crichton, you'll enjoy this. The performance is done in a bit of an outdated style. You can tell the characters apart, but the audio quality just feels... old.

Best ever, still.

Absolutely the best book I ever listened to on Audible and I have listened to it many, many times.
