Daphnis and Chloe is a gem from the pen of the otherwise unknown second-century CE Greek writer Longus. It is the only work of his to survive, and little is known of him. Though perhaps overshadowed by the Roman magnificence of Ovid’s Metamorphoses (dating from a century earlier), Longus’ story entranced the choreographer Michel Fokine, who persuaded the French composer Maurice Ravel to write music for a ballet on the love story as part of the Ballets Russes’ season in Paris in 1912. Daphnis and Chloe is a gem from the pen of the otherwise unknown second-century CE Greek writer Longus. It is the only work of his to survive, and little is known of him. Take it slow
This is a book that is not meant to be read as a whole. It'll tire you out if you try to finish this in a day or two.
Also, I didn't realize the fables are connected to Roman mythology. It was interesting.

Narration is well done, the stories were tedious
It was a struggle to listen to all the fables given how short and sometimes nonsensical they were. Who am I to complain about the classics though? The narrator did a fine job.

Dirt cheap and worth every penny
I don't get it. These are micro fables, most well-known to most, but in this version some with summary axioms, some not. I tried playing them for my 1st and 3rd graders, and they were left blank at the fables that were kind of "left hanging".
