Publisher's summary

Revised and updated edition of the classic work on spiritual leadership

In A Work of Heart, best-selling author and missional expert Reggie McNeal helps leaders reflect on the ways in which God is shaping them by letting us see God at work in the lives of four quintessential biblical leaders: Moses, David, Jesus, and Paul. McNeal identifies the formative influences upon these leaders, which he sees as God's ways of working in their lives: the same influences at work today forming leaders for ministry in our times. He explores the shaping influence of culture, call, community, conflict, and the commonplace.

  • Offers guidance for church leaders to let God shape their hearts from the inside out
  • Reggie McNeal is the author of the best-selling book, Missional Renaissance
  • Gives reassurance for maintaining perspective while doing the demanding work of ministry

The audiobook includes illustrative stories of contemporary leaders opening their hearts to God's guidance.

Narrating Speed

Ten and a half hours for a 176 book? I noticed how slow the narration was and I thought there was something wrong with the speed by which it was coming through. I experimented with the speed and found that 1.5X would give 6:59:15. Even at 1.3X would give around 8 hours and is a much more comfortable listening speed. It is a very good book and was actually the textbook we used in Spiritual Formation at the Bible college. I recommend this book but not the speed. Crank it up to your most comfortable listening speed.

Thankful for this book!

I don't even know how many times I have re-listened to each chapter and applied it to my life. I would highly recommend this book to any other leader who is early in the path that the Lord has put him or her on.

Weird audio shifts.

It seems like they spliced audio bits in (perhaps where mistakes were made or updates needed) and it isn't done well. I simply expect more quality for a paid resource.
