Publisher's summary

Just because you are a regular guy or gal who sits in the pews, it does not mean that you are unable to use your God given capacity to think on important matters in our world. This book shows that with the guidance of scripture, a willingness to take the time necessary to go deeper than the surface, and using one's God given capacity to think, Joe or Jane Church Goer can find answers to tough questions and contend for the faith.

The book is an easy listen. It is written in a simple, easy flowing, yet thoughtful, interesting, and effective style, dealing with the topics it covers. It covers an eclectic mix of subjects that at some point crosses the minds of many. it touches on faith and science, right and wrong, suffering, thankfulness, the compassion of Jesus and an array of other issues. A Voice from the Pews demonstrates that the ordinary believer can ponder the issues, reason, and come to smart conclusions on many of the questions that we all face at some time or the other in our lives. Many believers find themselves challenged at some point, dealing with the tough questions that sometimes fog their minds. They feel overwhelmed, inadequate to deal with these matters because they seem to be too heavy. Church leaders are often very busy and they do not always have time to answer some of the questions the average church goer has. The book does not pretend to be what it is not. It is not a deep dive into any particular topic, but some thoughts to stir people's minds and perhaps encourage them to dig deeper on the issues. The hope is that others sitting in the pews could be inspired by a fellow pew member who has a deep passion to learn more of the things of God. It is meant to show that with a little self application, a desire to go beyond the surface, and a commitment to learn, anyone sitting in the pews can find a voice that adds value to the conversation.

Very Engaging and Inspirational! A Must-Listen!

The entire experience of listening to this audiobook was very interesting to me. It is engaging on both mental and emotional level. It provided responses to a good deal of your queries and uncertainties. Many people's faith will be strengthened as a result of listening to this audiobook, and perhaps some others will be inspired to seek a relationship with God.
Overall, the topic, as well as the narration, seemed to be an ideal match for one another. This is a book that I would recommend to everyone who is willing to listen to it with an open mind, and especially to any Christian who could find themselves in a position where they need to explain their views.

THOROUGHLY COGENT AND ENGAGING!

This inspiring and informative book by Ershwyn Thibou takes an unflinching look at the controversies, complaints, and invective leveled at Christianity in a thoroughly cogent and informative way. As a retired associate pastor and Bible teacher, I found Ershwyn's reasoning, presentation, and scripture use to be spot-on throughout. I did a lot of creation science presentations back in the day and discovered he was also up-to-date in that arena. The sad fall from grace by revered Bible teacher and apologist the late Ravi Zacharias is discussed head-on, with no excuses offered, just sound, Biblical thinking.
A bit of a snag linguistically for me was the narrator pronouncing "nuclear" as "NEW-cue-ler", the standard pronunciation by the semi-literate. Narrator Arin Hoekstra would have likewise benefited from spending a few moments with Google Pronounce with regard to the Biblical names, places, and words; his pronunciation shows little familiarity with the Bible.
Be that as it may, this is an important book, especially for the non-Christian who thinks Christianity is ridiculous, non-scientific, outdated, and irrelevant.
For the believer, it's a breath of fresh air that also provides sound concepts for explaining what Christianity has to offer to those who otherwise mock and deride the faith.
No one can be argued into the Kingdom. But with the knowledge gleaned from this excellent book, the Christian can at least offer very reasonable explanations for why we believe as we do.
Very highly recommended!

Great Insights Into Faith in Today’s World

An interesting take on Christian apologetics presenting both sides of the issues. Topics such as atheism and the flawed hypotheses their beliefs are based upon. He confronts arguments about the resurrection of Christ very astutely. Difficult subjects the likes of politics, tragedies, blessings, gratitude and the shortcomings and failures of Christians. Also, Christ’s wonderful redemption. A marvelously written and narrated book. Highly recommended.

Very informative and well studied

For a layman he had done a real lot of in-depth studies to come to the conclusions he has. I liked that he presented arguments from both sides of the fence of non christian and christian, the research on the church and it'sfounding fathers. The book was well put together.

Debate Topics & Arguments

The author offers reasonable arguments for the Christian faith above all others, and addresses many taboo topics in American society. If you or anyone you know is struggling to trust the Church and it's claims, this audibook will give you info to use as you debate with others or yourself. Further research may be inspired as you listen to some.

Engaging book

The book itself was quite an interesting read! Very encouraging for the Christian believer and ,I would hope, thought-provoking to the unbeliever. The pace of the narration seemed a little rushed at 1x speed.

The simplicity of the topics

I like how he states the common issues that Christians have to face in this difficult life we live in. This book not only allowed me to grasp new information about the topics he mentioned but also reminded me of the goodness of God we often take for granted. He made it very easy to understand and relate.

Easy Listen

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was not preachy or a deep dive into a specific type of faith. More of an overall, thought-provoking book full of insights to the average questions faith followers have. This book brings a sense of a faith community that we are not so different and many of us have the same concerns or questions.

Your questions answered

I read this book already, but listening to it by audio is even better, at least for me. When you hear someone else speaking / reading the book to me it’s more enjoyable and I understand it even more. This is a book for new Christians who have unanswered questions or even the mature ones😊 GREAT BOOK!!
