Publisher's summary

In the midst of a Christmas blizzard: a baby on the doorstep.

It's taken a long time and a little heartache, but Annie Sutton is finally following her dream of living on Martha's Vineyard. She fell in love with the island's singular beauty while using it as a setting for two of her novels. In her cozy rented cottage on Chappaquiddick, she's settling in for her first Vineyard winter - complete with a fierce nor'easter on the way, forecast to bring high winds and deep snow. But the blizzard also brings something unexpected to Annie's front porch: a basket, encircled by a ribbon, containing a baby girl. The note reads: "I named her Bella, after my grandmother. Please help her, because I can't."

Adopted as a child, Annie is grateful for wonderful parents who raised her as their own. Yet she also hopes to spare little Bella the feelings of abandonment that still haunt her. And so, rather than take the baby to the police, Annie decides to keep her and try to find the birth mother, giving her a chance to change her mind.

But it's not easy keeping a secret in a close-knit, island community, especially amid the bustle of Christmas. Before the holiday ends, there will be revelations, rekindled hope, and proof that families - the ones we are born into and the ones we claim for ourselves - are the gifts that truly matter....

A Vineyard Christmas by Jean Stone

This was a really good mystery. I highly recommend for lovers of good reads or in my case listening. Thank-you.

Christmas and a baby!

This book was a surprise to me. The baby on the doorstep, the story of adoption from the viewpoint of the adoptee.
I am adopted and much of the story was relatable. It did get a little draggy, or maybe I was just tired of listening. The resolution was a little unexpected, but thank goodness it was not a cliffhanger. She has many more in this series and I became a little worried.
The narrator was good, I did turn the speed up a little. Her “up East” accent was believable (hey, I am in the south, who am I to say?!

Surprise Twist

Although the romantic happy ending was expected, the twist in the plot was not. I am glad I could not figure it out until it was evident. Great writing.

Not My Cup of Tea

I got it because it’s a Christmas one, personally I found it boring. Don’t take my word for it, others I am sure love it.

MUCH MORE THAN I EXPECTED

I READ A LOT, AND THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS I READ MOSTLY COZY MYSTERIES. I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT I WAS DOING WHEN I BEGAN READING A VINEYARD CHRISTMAS, BUT IT WAS SO MUCH MORE. THE DEPTH OF THE WRITING/STORYTELLING AND OF THE CHARACTERS IS MORE AKIN TO WOMEN'S LITERATURE, WITH A DASH OF MYSTERY (NOT MURDER) A SMIDGEN OF ROMANCE WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC OF THE STORY. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT ABOUT STOPPING IT AND MOVING BACK TO A COMFORTABLE COZY, BUT SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BOOK JUST WOULDN'T LET ME. IT DREW ME IN AND HELD ME FAST, TO THE VERY END. NOW, I HAVE PURCHASED THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES.

So Heartwarming and a Bit of a Mystery

A cozy Christmas, a mystery to be solved and a blooming romance. I lived in Brunswick, Maine for a time with my toddler son when my husband was deployed with the Navy. A southern girl alone in the neighborhood and so welcomed
by my nearby neighbors. I know they watched over me as people did in this story.
When a reunion of a mother and daughter occurred toward the end, chills ran up my arm. I feel this could be a continuing series on PBS and wish it was so I could continue following their lives.
Christmas is in the story but not the main theme.

A Heartwarming Tale of Love and Kindness

A heartwarming tale of love and kindness. This is a captivating story of a writer who discovers a baby left on her doorstep. Overwhelmed with love and compassion, she embarks on a heartfelt journey to locate the baby's family and ensure her well-being while reconciling with her own past. Lovely story!

Wishy washy main character

Annoying indecisiveness from the main character drove me up the wall. The only reason why I finished listening to the whole book was that I hoped she would just grow up and be a responsible human being.
