Publisher's summary

Alice Chesterfield is a woman pursued. Having survived an attack that left her scarred and her father dead, she is never free from the fear and memories of the man who is responsible. Texas seems to be an answer to Alice's prayers, and when she has the opportunity to relocate to a ranch near Dallas, a new man captures Alice's attention. Robert Barnett is unlike any man Alice has ever known: He doesn't seem to mind the scar she bears, nor does he worry about the obstacles that stand in their way - including Jessica Atherton, the woman he's supposed to marry. But there are storm clouds gathering, and Alice's peaceful sanctuary is threatened when she learns the truth about her father's dishonest dealings and the mother she thought was dead. Disillusioned, Alice must learn to place her trust in God as she seeks a measure of peace for her future...and for her heart.

continuation

This book picks up after book 1 so the books in this series aren't stand-alone books. In this book Alice gets a surprise or two. Jake and Marty get a surprise of their own. I do have to say that Alice kind of got on my nerves a little when she heard that the guy she liked was promised to someone else, despite him telling her it wasn't true she still decides to run off so she won't get in the way.

Lovely Series

I love the Lone Star Bride Series. The second book plot started at bit of a slower rhythm due to the introduction of new characters but quickly picks up and before you know it you are engrossed again in the lives of Martie and Alice. Don’t find the book preachy as other readers mentioned. Being a spiritual person I enjoy the Christian references and find their meaning to be universal among readers of all faith. I never felt like the writer was pushing her personal beliefs onto the reader. Therefore I have to give credit to Tracie Peterson for her beautiful writing and I can’t wait to start listening to the next book in the series.

Awesome book

I loved this book. Couldn’t stop listening to it. How they worked and lived in the depression was so very hard. The voices were so good. The storyline kept you wondering what would happen next. Great book!

Struggled a little with the narration

While I really like the narrator’s voice, I struggled some with her performance. I really couldn’t tell much difference between characters and got confused several times as to who was talking…there wasn’t much difference even between the male and female voices. She also seemed to struggled saying the name Hannah. Many times it sounded like Anna and, while a bit picky on my part, it really annoyed me.

Reunited

This story begins where the first left off and really tied up all the issues in the first one. Loved the narrator and the storyline. Know all things are possible through faith
