The narrator is excellent for this book

Such a sweet book to listen to. Liz’s voice made it even more appealing, realistic, and relaxing. I listened whenever i was driving. The storyline is also really splendid! Ms. Meyer you did an awesome job with this storyline. I love how each chapter is written like a personal diary to the readers. I love how each chapter is the view of the world from one person’s perspective. At first i was confused why each chapter name kept alternating, but i finally got it. So far, I’ve listened to the story/diaries of three amazing women! I wanna move to magnolia at this point! I wonder if there are any eligible bachelors in this town… I’m looking to settle down like Maggie and Clementine. Hmmm maybe the new chef is single. Or is he the match for Shari?? Thank you both for such an amazing job!

It was okay

My only complaint is all her books have characters that do nothing but whine. I really had a very hard time finishing this book. I won’t be reading the rest. All the lady characters are to bla for me.

Narration is overpronounced and story has many commonalities

For rather short books, these stories have a lot of repeats. "I nodded. then I realized he couldn't see me. So I said yes" while talking on the phone. people seeing eachother in towels or wet shirts. Shakespeare toyed with the idea of "There be nothing new under the sun..." But I think he was negating the idea through breaking molds within his questioning. This story felt molded. In the first book, this character (Clemmi) was very assertive to the point of being "pushy" with those for whom she cared. I don't think she followed through as the same person in the wake of the argument with Shari. The stories also don't really give the reader closure either which I think is supposed to be incentive to spend 13.00 on the next 5 hour novel. the whole stores could fit inside 1 SJM novel.

Clean romance

Pro: clean romance
Con: OMG I could not deal with Shari. I mean stop sulking around if you don’t want your friends/family to care enough to ask. And she just would not confront her husband. Just listening to her chapters made me want to quit the whole series!

I would prefer two narrators for each character. It’s hard to remember whose chapter you’re listening to.

I waited to see how the second book was, but I feel like the main love story gets rushed and isn’t complete. Then the next book doesn’t expand on it more. There’s a lot of build up & story line then it gets wrapped up in the last thirty minutes of the book.

Unimaginative

I tried to give this author the benefit of the doubt and purchased the second book in the series to see if her writing had matured. I was not so lucky and was again subjected to everything being "soft" (soft expression, soft dress, soft smile) or everyone having "scoffed" (he scoffed, she scoffed, everyone scoffed!). Her editor needs to find another line of work. As my son often says, "Mom, you're not the most observant person in the world," so if I noticed, and began to cringe and roll my eyes after every repetition, it's really bad. Don't waste your time. These two books are 10 or 11 hours of your life you'll never get back.
