“Bridgerton fans will swoon over this entertaining romp through Britain’s Regency-era high society.”—People

"A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting is a sharp, modern, and absolutely delicious take on the marriage plot. Sophie Irwin's debut is one of the most fun, romantic books I've read in a long time. I cannot wait to see what she does next."—Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Malibu Rising

A whip-smart debut that follows the adventures of an entirely unconventional heroine who throws herself into the London Season to find a wealthy husband. But the last thing she expects is to find love…

Kitty Talbot needs a fortune. Or rather, she needs a husband who has a fortune. Left with her father’s massive debts, she has only twelve weeks to save her family from ruin.

Kitty has never been one to back down from a challenge, so she leaves home and heads toward the most dangerous battleground in all of England: the London season.

Kitty may be neither accomplished nor especially genteel—but she is utterly single-minded; imbued with cunning and ingenuity, she knows that risk is just part of the game.

The only thing she doesn’t anticipate is Lord Radcliffe. The worldly Radcliffe sees Kitty for the mercenary fortune-hunter that she really is and is determined to scotch her plans at all costs, until their parrying takes a completely different turn….

This is a frothy pleasure, full of brilliant repartee and enticing wit—one that listeners will find an irresistible delight.

Jane Austen like

I, at first, disliked the main character and thought how can I like this book when I don't want her to succeed? There would be moments of being persuaded by her way of thinking where I'd soften to her, but then go right back to wanting her to fail miserably. I think the author did this on purpose, wanting to toy with the readers thinking and emotions as they unraveled the book.
There were laugh out loud moments and I'm sure references that weren't quite accurate to the times, but who cares? it was wildly entertaining, fun to pass the time and I would enjoy a spin off of these characters in a sequel. what a first book for quite a talented writer.

Excellent Jane Austenesque Delight

A delight filled romp with a very slightly modern take on Georgian romance whilst not turning repulsively woke. In this upside down era that is an accomplishment.
Greatly enjoyed it.

What a wonderful story

I loved this book. Pure and simple. The exchanges between the hero and heroine (essentially enemies to lovers) had me gripped from the beginning until the very end.

Loved it. Narrator was fantastic.

Absolutely beautiful and bewitching! Loved every second of the story and the narration was perfection

A most lovely story…and such a beautifully described world…both of which I loved being lost in for hours on end! So cleverly written and woven together perfectly. Intriguing characters and storylines…loved it! Thank you to the author for this gift and to the narrator for telling the tale so splendidly!! Will listen again and again, I’m sure!

Captivating and Soothing

Overall a really nice story, in particular at bedtime. The storyline moves slowly at a leisurely pace, and yet captivates, and left me wanting to hear what would happen next. The performance is captivating, and makes you want to listen, although there are a few technical bits about the performance that could be polished, such as, continuing in the voice of a character in the following text of the book. Alternately saying a characters line in a way that is next indicated with an adjective, such as angrily, yet the line was not delivered in such a way as the text suggests. This happens occasionally and it’s some thing that is probably a noticeable to most listeners. The absence of sex scenes is fantastic. The intimacy scenes remind me of the style of intimacy coaching that was used in Bridgerton so successfully. I recommend this book; thoroughly enjoyed it.
