Publisher's summary

Born into a wealthy and powerful Boston family, Renee Charlebois has it all. Except for one small detail. She’s been abducted without a trace. Who took her, and why, is a mystery.

The case gets dropped on Curtis Westcott’s desk, but Boston’s chief of homicide has little to work with. No clues, no body, no motive. Renee had no enemies, no financial skeletons in the closet, and no bitter ex-boyfriends.

Curtis and Aislinn Byrne, his go-to detective on tough cases, work the file hard but come up empty. Then, Westcott attends a party and overhears a story that catches his attention. He and Aislinn have their first break.

They dig in and unravel a complex series of crimes tied to Renee’s disappearance. As they peel back the layers, they are convinced Renee is still alive but that her abductor is on a precise schedule and has every intention of killing her.

It’s a bizarre and twisted game, and time is quickly running out.

A Killing Game is book one in the Curtis Westcott series, set in Boston.

Tightly woven tale to be savored...

I am amazed that someone actually gave this book a one star rating. I listen to at least one book a day depending on the length sometimes more than one. I would guess 99% are of the mystery/thriller genre. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert but I believe I have a pretty good idea of what makes for a good or great story. With roughly 3,000 audiobooks in my library (Audible & CDs) this is a book I will remember. This book has a very original storyline. The protagonist is a strong character. He’s a detective who takes on the unusual and difficult to solve cases. He has a great team who’s personalities are all complimentary of each other.
This entire book is a game of CLUE and has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
Craig Kolkebeck does an exceptional job narrating.

Great Read - Fun Ride

This book was like a roller coaster ride with twists and turns. I really enjoyed the book, the narrator was great and the story kept moving. It kept my attention 100% of the time. The puzzle was interesting as the main character puts the pieces together and figures things out and he does it with help so while he's a smart detective he humbly accepts input from others. I liked the relationships between the characters and can't wait for the next book! Nice job.

Marvelous suspense thriller!

A KILLING GAME is my first Jeff Buick novel and my first exposure to narrator Craig Kolkebeck. This is a superbly written and narrated suspense mystery/thriller. My thanks to Audible listener Shelley for finding and reviewing A Killing Game. Please read her review which I agree with. Her reviews have pointed me to many dozens of great mystery/thriller novels and series.

This is an easy 5 star novel with an original plot that borders on perfection. Yet I see that one person rated it 1 star which is farcical.

Ok

Unlikely problem solving that had me rolling my eyes. Narrator's in a hurry..slow him down a bit. Story ok, not original. You know what you're getting.

I really didn’t like it

The narrator was incredibly hard to listen to. His accent was awful and he stumbled over words often. The story was also not good. There was no way for the listener to participate too and I couldn’t care less about the characters. This one is getting returned.
