Publisher's summary

A perfect gift that captures the spirit of the season, USA Today best-selling author Nancy Naigle’s A Heartfelt Christmas Promise celebrates the holidays, small-town traditions, and the generosity of love between two lost souls who find everything they ever wanted in each other.

Vanessa Larkin was supposed to be spending Christmas in Paris, France on a business trip she hoped to enjoy as a working vacation. Instead, she’s been assigned to Fraser Hills, North Carolina - home of the Best Fruitcake in the USA - to convert her company’s property into warehouse space and shut down Porter’s, the fruitcake factory. Offering retirement packages and selling locals on new job opportunities may not spread holiday cheer, but Vanessa believes she’s helping secure the town’s future.

Mike Marshall’s family founded Porter’s. For decades, the factory served as the lifeblood of the community until his grandfather sold the business to a Chicago corporation. The sale cost the town its independence - and the Marshalls their family ties. A horse farmer, Mike was never involved with his grandfather’s company, but still felt Fraser Hills lost part of its identity. And as a widower raising a teenage daughter, he’s suffered enough losses in one lifetime. News of the factory’s closing means losing another piece of the town’s legacy.

Far from the skyscrapers and rapid pace of the city, Vanessa finds herself enjoying the easygoing rhythms of rural living. With Mike as her guide, she learns to appreciate the simple pleasures found in shared holiday festivities among friends. Fraser Hills is a town she is growing to love - and Mike is someone she is falling in love with. Now all Vanessa needs is a Christmas miracle to give her newfound friends and home a gift they’ll cherish for many New Years to come.

Definitely a Christmas gift!

This book (like a Hallmark movie) is not my typical genre, but it was exactly what I needed to listen to!
I enjoyed this story and the characters so much, and I highly recommend it as your Christmas read/listen!

Pleasantly surprised

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance story. No damsel in distress but a smart, independent working woman that finds a balance to her work and personal life! Very. Heartwarming!! Loved it!

Not a story for animal lovers

The basic story is good and narrator's are also good but if you are an animal lover you won't like it. There is excitement in killing of deer. Especially the killing of an old deer.

Christmas Joy

Love this heartwarming Christmas story. Nancy Naigle makes you feel like you are in the story with her words and Stacey Glemboski brings it to life with the narration.

Cute plot

It’s a cute plot but I can’t recommend. The shining prince is more of an a hole. He has no loyalty, no listening skills, Is extremely judgmental, holds grudges even when he has no business holding a grudge, and makes extreme snap judgment. His idea of loving someone is that you care.. as long as hey do what you want, how you want, with his permission or your not only not worthy f his love, you are a crap human. Then.. oops I was wrong, love you so much and repeat. No idea what respect is for any of his family or the heroine. If he is modeled on a real person, I suggest his significant other run, and run quickly.
While the character is absolutely horrible the book is fairly well written and fun. I enjoyed the other characters.

The narration however is absolutely wonderful, is well done, and I will be looking for more titles by her.

Not up to the level of Naigle's other Christmas...

Nancy Naigle has written several of my favorite Christmas romance books. This is not one of them.
First, there was zero chemistry between the leads, and then second, and worse, there was zero romance between them.
There was also a mention of something in passing that made you think there might be some mystery element being introduced but then it was never mentioned again. That seems like just sloppy editing.
It did take place at Christmas time, so there was a holiday feel to it, and there was a cute puppy, so that was nice. And for those that care, there was no cursing or sex.
The characters weren't awful. The sixteen year old daughter of one of the leads was a nice addition.
The narrator was also not anywhere near as good as the woman that narrated Naigle's other Christmas romance books.
The book wasn't awful, just not romantic.
